Climbing under my truck because I hear a slight "clunk" after braking hard - just as the truck comes to a full stop. Wondered if it's the driveshaft slipping in and out of the yoke (don't know if I'm even describing that correctly). Seems to happen only after the truck has been driven hard and it's not every stop that it does it. Then, when slowly pulling away the truck makes a metallic hum - it's like a vibration that lasts about a second or so. Rear brakes are new including new drums.

Also, and it seems unrelated but maybe not, after being driven for 30 minutes or so there is a creaking noise from the rear of the truck when I go over bumps or in/out of a driveway - anything that causes the truck to twist. I'm thinking that it probably needs to be greased.

Any insights are appreciated as I'm going to be driving this thing on a 4 week road trip in about 2 weeks. I love this truck, can't wait to take it.

The creaking noise over bumps could be coming from your rear leaf springs, replace the spring isolator pads and spray some lube in between the individual leafs.

Grease it a lot and then pull the zerk to relieve some pressure, then grease some more and repeats

You need to bounce on the bumper some as well to let it push out enough to carry weight in the bed.
OP I bet the carrier bearing is also causing issues. I added grease without relieving pressure to the driveshaft and I could hear what you described. Letting some of the pressure out will solve both issues.

Could be any of the mentioned things above. She looks like she needs some grease for sure.

This link relates to a similar noise problem i had. No noise since changing differential grease https://www.tundras.com/threads/popping-settling-noise-rear-end-after-coming-to-stop.59524/
