Yes. FB Marketplace, CL, AK List, Google, Autotrader, you name it.

The reconstruct title doesn’t look in very good shape. I’ve seen the Palmer one too and it has major damage on the rear driver side.

Engine swap can be done in a day or 2 if your prepared. Dropping the trans makes it really easy, but if you support the trans it can come out too. Headers are something I’d recommend to install just because it’s there. Rear main seal, headers, any other things you can’t easily get with the engine in; you’ll end up with a solid truck for years to come (paint the frame while your in there) if the frames solid then that’s the course of action I’d take

I saw that this morning too. Thanks for making sure I was aware. Unfortunately, picky me wants a Double Cab and it’s an Access Cab. I’ve seen so many on the road recently too but then again, they were probably always there and I’m just now noticing them because I want one.

It’s weird to want to follow someone and ask them if they want to sell me their Double Cab Gen 1 Tundra right? Asking for a friend...

Do it, preferably pick an innocent looking Grandpa so that way you know the truck hasn't been mangled. He also won't know the truck is worth as much as it is so the ball is in your court. He might die soon and if that happens then his son's ex-wife will inherit it and list it on Bring a Trailer. Have cash in hand. If he shows any sign of saying no, just mention something about being able to send the grand kids off to college with the money.

Would it be cheaper and easier to just fly down to OR/WA, buy one there and drive it back? From what I understand they don't salt a lot in the Pac NW so frames are typically clean. I think that's what I would do in your shoes if there are really none for sale in Alaska.

edit-ok, maybe easier is a poor choice of words. I see now it's a 42 hour drive from Kent WA to Anchorage Alaska...

Easier? That’s a bit subjective. It would be easier from an option/inventory standpoint. It would definitely not be to factor in taking 4-5 days off work and that’s driving 12+ hours a day.

Granted, I could make a whole trip out of it and load up things to sell in AK for a major profit :monocle:

The red one on Facebook MP? I wish…I really wish. I’ve reached out to him repeatedly since May 25 but no replies (see screenshot below).

One of my biggest pet peeves….why list something, get immediate interest and then never reply (let alone even read)?! SMH!

Why did I think all of the 1st Gen DoubleCabs had a floor-mounted shifter…?

Yes, that's the one I'm referring to.
I agree with you about people not responding to a simple request for information, about something that they are trying to sell!
Or not removing the add after the item is sold.
I'm trying to buy a kids dirt bike and going through the same thing with a guy in eagle river.

I'll keep eyes open for a 1st gen for ya

I don't think it will take nearly that long with the current inflation trajectory.

I was close on one but it’s in Kodiak. I’ve since decided to hold my horses and stick with my Gen 3 for the time being. Appreciate your help looking out!
