While we were at the pickapart I was 100% looking at the other tundra and sequoia to see if they had leather seats and how they looked.

Picked mine up from the mechanic yesterday. The quick brake shoe swap and clean worked, fresh inspection sticker without having to spend cash on a new wheel bearing.

Did another adjustment on the rear shoes and got them dialed in but after driving a rental for a week on vacation I realized how shit the brakes are on my truck.

Thanks for the info, although I'm not particularly worried about water intrusion where I live, I am concerned about the longevity of the vinyl in our brutal sun.

Armor all it once a month to keep it from drying and cracking. The edges of my old one are shot, but patched. That is the only good use I have ever found for "Flex Tape"

Finally filled up after my trip to killeen. 350 miles before the fuel light came on, and there is 4 gallons left when the light does come on. I only got 15.7 out of that tank, but most of that trip was cruising at 80+ and lots of around town driving while i was up there. Not as impressive as the 17.3 tank ive done, but its still about 3x better than my ‘80 f150.

Haven’t done anything and don’t have any plans, for at least 6 months to a year, to work on her unless she breaks down. Next goals *might* be:

    1) New Projectors

    2) 4.56 Gears

What are you running/planning on running that makes you want to regear, and how did you settle on the 4.56s over whatever else?

I can’t remember off the top of my head what mine reads with 285/75/r16 (32.8”). For some reason, I remember the 70mph on speedo (true speed 75mph adding the 8% for larger tire) being like 2250ish.

    -25rpm for a340 trans instead of a750. With 4.56 gears @ 60mph of course.

next question? Can the up/down shift solenoids be run with a flappy lever? The aw4 (sameish as a340) can, but what about toys 5 and 6 speed slushboxes? Pretty sure ill go manual the first time, but a double OD 6 speed would be a popular swap as these trucks age.

Changed out my rear differential gear oil. Old stuff didn’t look awful or smell to bad.
Truck has 166k on it. It was a little low (I think), it didn’t spill out when I opened it, but could touch it if I put my finger in it.

I filled it till it spilled out

Took the wife and kid to Shenandoah for a scenic trip to Skyline Drive yesterday, getting timing belt and water pump done at the dealership in a couple hours. Anyone have service recommendations I should also have them do while they’re at it?

Moved to northwest Montana about a month ago, averaged 14.0-14.5mpg for the 24hr drive from Illinois with a topper, and loaded down with all my stuff.

Finally getting a chance to get the truck out into the woods, been putting the sleeping platform/drawers to good use.

I've been driving a ton of gravel/forest service roads, and a mysterious "clunking" sound has developed when turning or hitting bumps at slow speeds. Nothing visibly broken, Looks like there have been a few other people on the forum with the same problem, I'll be investigating that this week.

Thought id be clever, and steal a coil from the sequoia to replace my cracked one, and check the plugs. Well, when i did the plugs on the sequoia way back when, i used kopper kote and iridium. These plugs werent hand tight, like the ones in the tundra, so i probably gave em an extra grunt of torque, but the 6 coils i pulled were cracked. So, it must not be too big of a deal.

Front end was repainted a couple weeks ago. Reinstalled my front fender flares after a refresh with ceramic coating. New weather strips. And new antenna mast. I pick up a new bed tomorrow!
