Engine starts but can't get out of park. Also no lights or AC.

HELP ME. 2020 tundra tss. Drove my truck to my sons baseball game and came home. Then went to leave a few hours later and the truck is starting but not working. Trucks engine starts perfect but nothing else works. No lights no AC pretty much nothing inside. Won’t even let me out of park. Not sure what it is. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

 

Well that's weird. Hope you can get it working or it's a tow truck to the dealer.

 

Sounds like a loose ground wire somewhere maybe.

 

I’d check the fuse box relays. Good luck

 

I had a slightly similar scenario with a Kia Soul – turned out to be the instrument cluster.

I drove ~ 30 minutes after getting completely soaked (walked through a heavy downpour - rain gear defeated) during a very humid and rainy week.

The car sat for several days (windows were still fogged from cabin humidity) and when I went to drive it again it wouldn’t get out of park and the instrument cluster was dead (no gas gauge, engine light cycle, etc). The cluster dried out about two weeks later and all was well.

 

Verdict??

 

I have had this exact same issue. Mine was due to the 12 Volt Solutions auto starter. I simply had to reprogram it.

 

Toyota is saying they think it is the remote start that the other dealership had installed. They had carrots who installed it come put it back to stock. But one of the main fuses was blown so they had to order one.

 

Auto starter like a remote start?
Nvm just looked them up. Hopefully that’s my situation and a easy fix.

 

Just know that the remote start is not necessarily bad so don't have them pull it off. The re-program is pretty easy.

Truck starts just fine but can't shift to drive , all dashboard lights are off no power at all , I did tried multiple times turn off and on engine and fix the problem and once I parked it goes back to the same problem, any idea what it could be

sounds like a valet mode, immobilizer, or remote start malfunction.

 

Check your taillights.

If that fuse is blown, truck won't come out of park.

 

I have a after market remote starter but it was installed a year ago so why problems right now?

 

Main fuse was the culprit mentioned in post #8 up above your post.

 

Problem fixed , bad wiring on my after market remote starter was making bad connection.

 

Make no assumptions and follow the most likely route of failure. Glad you got it sorted.
