The front end looks are gonna have to grow on me, it probably will with time. My biggest hold back will be if it does get that twin turbo 3.5, reading online what the techs have to say about it and the fact it looks like a nightmare to work on I'm not a fan of that at all. Glad to see they finally changed the truck up though...hopefully payload has increased.

front end is already looking better. After driving around today focusing on vehicle grills there's many that have a gaping front end that look sharp.

Difference between your example and what first gen is worried about is in your example they took a motor designed for heavy use and modified it for a truck. This new motor is from a car and they are modifying it for heavy use, I to would wait a few years to see how things hold up. I have watched online where they test the ford ecoboost vs the Chevy and ram gas v8's towing up a hill hot lapping them. the Ford smoked them first try...then kept getting progressively worse as heat builds. The v8's then regained the advantage, although i have read they have achieved good thermal efficiency with this motor so time will tell.

Pretty sure toyota used your editing method in the design phase lmao

Good thing I'm at 63k and paid off on my 3rd gen. Next truck will be downsizing anyway either frontier or taco (assuming taco doesn't do the same lame styling on the reboot) as I don't intend on selling my tundra

I think the new front end will grow on people. This was the same when I was on the 4runner forum and the 5th gen runner came out. Majority hated that big grill front end. Now all I see are modded “overlanding” 4runners.

The manufacturer and aftermarket will heard the sheep, I mean buyers in whatever direction they want them to go, and since all trucks now share a similar appearance the consumer has little to say about it.

I am amazed at people that are obsessed with the size of the grill. I have the first gen and the front end of the second (and third?) generation was never that appealing to me because the grill always looked like someone threw on this big grill at the very end of the design phase. This new Tundra looks like the grill is more integrated with the overall design. Saying this grill is huge and ignoring the previous 1 (2?) gens is odd to me.

It looks like a octagon with a little shaved off the bottom but mostly symetrical. The current one looks like a pyramid with the top cut off and mirror pyramid on the bottom with even more of the top cut off. But I think what the biggest difference is may be the lights look more integrated into the design of the new one and the air inlet/faux inlets under the lights to make help integrate the grill with the rest of the truck. I mean I can understand people saying they do not like the new front end or grill but to say the grill is huge and ignore the fact that the current model has a huge grill is boggling to me. BOGGLING!

How can we even decide until we see it in person in MGM? Every other color is irrelevant.

This. I am sure this is the top end. If they insist on sticking to the faux (faux is the fancy word for fake that hair dressers use for all you real men) chrome on the lower end models I may hate it. If they keep the black contrast and color match I think it will make all the models look better. But I hate faux chrome.

In short, yep. In the past I would *NEVER* have considered it, but considering the fact that our trucks are worth more than we paid for them in many cases, I may indeed do just that.

Waiting for all of the real specs to show up. If real world MPG is in the 18 city area, I'm not sure I'll even hesitate. If they say "16mpg city" then in reality that is more like 14 which is what I'm already getting.

I've always preferred the front end styling on the first gen Tundra - the proportions just seem "right".

I think the grill on the new one looks too Lexus, mainly due to color matching the center section of the bumper to the grill. It would probably look better color matched to the vehicle or painted silver (like my 5th gen 4runner). I'm not a fan of the plastic around the wheel wells - I much prefer a smooth metal side panel in those areas. Also, what are the plastic things on the back corners of the hood? Take those off and put a proper (fake) hood scoop on it!

At least the radiator is roughly the same size as the grille. I hate the BMWs and other new vehicles that are designed to appeal to Chinese buyers with huge fake grilles and tiny radiators.

That's just it though, yes 3rd gen is big. This is even bigger!!! The pictures are not same proportion which makes the new one appear small overall. Given the new truck did not shrink in overall size, the new grille is just as big as 3rd gen plus that whole lower section where a bumper should be they decided to fill in with a grille as well. My wife's Lexus is like this and I hate it.

For me its not the size of the grille but that it doesn't really have its own definition like the old one...it just runs into that awful bumper/valance piece. Side profile isn't to bad my only gripe there is how Toyota does fender flares, its like they cant make them fit the wheel well fully. the 3rd gen taco is the same way, it looks off.

Same. This is almost as bad as the camaro front end that got so many complaints they changed almost as soon as it hit the floor. Was so ugly even camaro fan boys were like nahhhh I'm good LOL

it needs the bottom of the grill surround which looks like if fell off and the toyota cutout centered in the grill instead of stuck up at the top. Symmetry is good.

Then it would look quite good. As it is, it looks just bad...
