Question: Do you mean that you can't have the same bed on a CM and a DC, or are you saying they each only have one bed option? Just seeking clarification of your statement, because DC has 2 bed options.

When you sell a million trucks a year, you can have a lot more options than when you sell 120,000 trucks a year.

Yeah I have a feeling the profit margin on the Toyota is greater than the domestics. But yes they sell a lot of trucks and they have to.

yes, but you can't get the powerboost and generator in anything but the crew from what I saw.

without the generator the ford is off the list anyways.

That is a cool option. Again the only question with me on Fords is the electrics/electronics. It's been going on for a while. My moms Ford Edge is in the shop now with issues. Hit the gas and it would lunge then stop then lunge then stop, she has to pull over and shut the vehicle off to reset whatever is wrong. No warning when it would happen and she almost got nailed a few times because of it. Hopefully they figure it out and she can have peace of mind and be safe again.

And the price, lol. When I was looking I could get the Platinum Tundra completely loaded for less than a loaded Lariat. Forget about the Platinum F150 or King Ranch. And yes, I'm talking about the negotiated price and not MSRP. This was fall of 2019. Last I looked, before this shortage, I saw MSRP on loaded Lariats of $60-65k+.

I’m going to guess the IFORCE MAX hybrid will have around 460hp @ 5000rpm and will have peak torque of 480lb/ft from around 1800rpm through 5000rpm.

If that's the V6TT how is 480 way too low? F150 is at 500 for theirs. If the Toyota hybrid is a beast that could put it well over 600 lb ft of torque. Pretty good numbers I'd say

I doubt Toyota will say what the combined ICE/electric TQ will be. Toyota Hybrids only state combined HP and ICE only TQ numbers. Maybe the Tundra will be different? But estimates of the 4 banger RAV4 Hybrid are around 240 torque…ICE-176hp, combined-218hp, torque ICE 167 so I’m guessing at least 35%+ gain over the TTV6! 600+torque would not be a stretch!

Really disappointed in the new 2022 Tundra as its always been not the nicest looking pickup on the road, Ford raptor looks the best I think for any full size pickup.

Toyota Tacoma is the best looking small pickup on the highway, and wish Toyota Tundra looked just like the Tacoma on a bigger scale, and had better seating like the Tundra as the Tacoma makes you feel like you are sitting on the floor with legs straight out.

New Tundra needs a hood scoop too, and did like post# 7141 with what a lifted new 2022 Tundra would look like, anyway was hoping for something better look looking from Toyota on the 2022, but hey still the best reliability and resale and glad I bought my Tundra 2021.

Dying to see the engine options too, and see if it blows everyone one else away!!!

Feel Toyota is going to do something not seen before with this hybrid. A flat operating rpm torque curve? A brief torque boost from the electric motors at transmission shift to prevent rpm drop… a shifting transmission that feels like a CVT?

I don't think hybrids work off percentages. I thought they were more like power adders. So the rav 4 seems like it's a 50hp 75 ft lb torque motor which is real close to the F150.

Just that setup would be around 460/550 if tundra tuning is the same as the land cruiser. A 75/100 electric motor is more realistic but if they could get a 100hp and 125-150 torque electric motor in there it really would be a game changer.

With the Ford electric motor you're not ever going to be driving on electric only power in the real world. t's too small to move a full sized truck by itself. If Toyota puts a big old electric motor in there,

    1) you've got a motor big enough to move a full size truck in battery only
    2) more electric power available means more assist on the gas motor in every day driving giving better fuel economy
    3) most importantly a combined 580hp 600+ torque tundra is a bad bitch that really would blow us away and explain why testers have compared it to a diesel

I agree they don’t work from percentages..but Toyota is going to have to use considerably larger electric motors and batteries for a pickup that is 1500+lbs heavier. The only downside is weight and where the batteries are placed? Most likely under the rear seat so kiss goodbye some storage options? 600+torque would be impressive for sure!

F150 loses 500 lbs with their hybrid, sounds like a reasonable number for the Tundra to lose as well

If the big concern is fuel economy, I don’t think they are going to throw big increases in numbers into it. If they are looking at getting 30mpg, they will want to use the electric motors to decrease heavy load power, which is accelerating up to speed and then back it off. It’s not that the standard engine is under powered for a 1/2 ton. Also, throwing in an electric motor on the front axle would get rid of wt… no front diff and no transfer case.
