Somebody, maybe TFL had a close up of the vents under the headlights and they looked real. Their idea was they were going to be for the CAI for the Turbos.

Maybe the side vents, one for oil cooler and one for tranny cooler. None the less, the porousity of the grill indicates they want plenty of air flow to the various coolers.

If he is right then who the hell would ever buy a crewmax without the longer bed? I would think sales of the shortbed crewmax would pale in comparison to the dbl cab size bed on a crewmax.

The pic I reposted is the closest one to the vents I've seen. I'd love to see a closer one if you have access to it.

that would be sad, I don’t want a crew max personally. Luckily he was just being a sales idiot.

And yet crew cab short box is the most popular truck, despite crew cab standard box being available from every other manufacturer...

Wheelbase gets longer than most want for city driving with Crew Max and standard bed. DC and standard bed is perfect for me, but folks with kids are going to choose Crew Max with 5 foot bed more times than not IMO.

The Toyota dbl cab bed is only a foot longer than the crewmax so it is essentially also a short box. However it's 50,000 times atleast more useful than the 5.5' Ridgeline box.

The lack of availability of a 6.5 foot bed in the CC has kept me from the Tundra but after looking at a 2021 DC and CC right next to each other, I was amazed at how large the rear seat in the CC is ... almost too much space. It seemed a LOT larger than the big 3 when I did my standard litmus test of setting the front seat to my liking, then hopping in the back. I had about a FOOT from my knees to the back of the seat in the Tundra where in the big 3 it's around 1/2 of that. In line with that I found the Tundra DC adequate. It wasn't as large back there as the big 3's crew cabs but definitely more room than their extended cabs.

I had one, they are nice. One thing I could never figure out or liked, you couldn’t get a platinum double cab, only up to a limited. Top trim should be able to be put on double cabs , IMO

Agreed, all the trims should be available for all the models. Even though I tend to get the lowest trim package if I can, it should be that way. Toyota does some weird things sometimes but I understand why they do it.

No point. He just likes to try and troll CM owners. He knows everybody buys what's best for their own situations.

There is no try, it's pure success. No matter how many fishing or big fish gif's or smiley faces I post the troll usually succeeds everytime. Crewmax owners love the Toyota Ridgeline. :D.

They are great for the family, I had a 2008 with the reclining rear seat. When I was shopping for the 2020 I looked at the crewmax but it didn't have the reclining rear seat anymore. Went with the Dbl cab since it's basically me now, love this thing.

Yeah but they have way way more options than Toyota does, so many configurations possible. Probably why they have to sell so many in order to be profitable.

Yeah, apparently owner surveys said they'd prefer a folding seat with a flat load floor to the slide and recline in back, and Toyota gave us that big lump under the seat instead of a flat floor. :notsure:

The clincher for me was actually two fold. I love the whole rear window rolling down, and I don't like the rear handles on the DC. Went with the Toyota Ridgeline all the way. I've not once needed more bed, but I've hauled plenty of family and friends with room to spare. :D

I don’t think there is that many, the other two trucks I’m considering AT4 and powerboost I think are crewcabs only as well

My father-in-law knows an owner of a gas station that said they never ran out of gas. My suspicion is someone at corporate told the masses to shut the pumps down to produce said results. Shameful.

Some stations did run out, but IIRC it was only about 3% of the stations in one area. It was not the national crisis that it was hyped up to be. Good news doesn't sell, so the crises will continue to be manufactured.

It could very well be. I've tried to find something in the pictures that could point to that but nothing is definitive either way.
The only real thing I see is the bump out and fill plug on the rear diff are on the same side as the current gen diff but new rear end may be reversed

I agree. I got the crewcab because of aesthetics and the roll-down rear, but I don't need all that legroom in back, even with 6' kids still at home. Meanwhile, rarely a day goes by that I don't curse the too-short bed! The logical move would be to get rid of the useless 5.5' bed option altogether, and just have one compromise-size cab, somewhere beteen the CM and DC. I'd be surprised if that isn't what happens with the new platform. Well, maybe not "surprised" but definitely confounded.

Tundra has six trim levels and two different cab choices with no choice in bed length between the two cab choices. For example the f-150 has seven trim levels, three cab styles with two to three bed size choices in each cab style. A lot more than the Toyota

2021 FORD F-150 TRIM CAB CONFIGURATIONS BED LENGTHS
XL Regular, SuperCab, SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft., 8- ft
    XLT Regular, SuperCab, SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft., 8-ft.
    Lariat SuperCab, SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft., 8-ft.
    King Ranch® SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft.
    Platinum SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft.
    Limited SuperCrew 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft.

    AT-4 is nice

I test drove a 2021 ridgeline recently and the bed honestly seemed more useful than my crewmax's (more of an issue with any current half ton's height, really). I'm not a short person, but unlike with my tundra, was able to reach over the side of the ridgeline's box, which was nice and the trunk feature seemed pretty neat. The only negative thing that stood out with the ridgeline's box as compared to my Tundra's was that the right side hinge bracket is not flush to the side of the box, which made me think loading 4' wide sheets might be a bit more of a hassle than it otherwise would if Honda could recess that mechanism. I've never owned a 1/4 ton, but the only criticisms I had in driving it was the parking brake was in a pant-snagging position for me and the AC seemed weak. I'm not suggesting the ridgeline is better all around, but I was impressed with how well thought out most of it seems to be.

I generally like having a canopy on a truck, but with the trade-offs to get the CM, it seemed like a bit of a waste to leave a canopy on the CM and block off its power rear window, so I had opted for a tri fold tonneau. Given the trade-offs to go with a CM vs DC, originally I made a point of regularly using the power rear window to get utility from it... the short version is that my family wants it left up now, so that is hindsight for you.
