Well I guess I can’t escape steering problems (my last truck I bent my tie rods, idler arm, and center link in one go). I’m getting a sketchy wobble from the front end from 50-60. Thought maybe I chucked a weight on my new wheels cause a strip had fallen off when I picked up my wheels and tires, had them check balance on 3 different machines one being a road force balancer and still nothing. Crawled under and the steering rack moves the opposite direction when turning the wheel, also noticed some wetness in the boots on both sides. Ordering poly bushings but hoping I don’t need a whole new rack. Input/experience much appreciated. I’ve read replacement threads and does not sound fun.
Power steering feels fine besides the shimmy

ignore the rusty welds, I’m going to fix all that when my lift and TC gusset kit gets here

And one fun picture cause I also painted the grill and valence

That’s not good. Try to clean it and see if it hopefully was just something else that leaked. But once it starts to go, I don’t think there is anything you can do. Keep checking your PS fluid. Mine was going for awhile and finally broke when I hit a curb. I claimed it on insurance. It cost about $3000 to fix at a Toyota dealer.

Just put a new rack in and return the bushings you got.

Well bummer, I’ll order that now too I guess. Best to go through my local dealer or is their somewhere online I should look?
I think I’ll still do the poly bushings, keep things nice and tight

I’ve read that the poly bushings help. If you are replacing it, I’d keep them and put them in too. There was a company that sold remanufactured ones that were supposedly better.

There’s a thread on here with part #s and revisions and which ones to use.

Yes, I would look at the bigger online Toyota parts dealers. The rack that's $750 online might be $1500 at the dealership. You might also find that you can order the rack online from the dealership where you're standing for less money, it's a little goofy to say the least!
