What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

They do. But not the long tubes I want

I’d do shorties. But the tri-y long tubes will work better for me.

 

No, they were off. My friend told me to turn them on after he took the first pic.

 

Shiner doesn’t cause problems, shiner lets you ignore problems. Put it back in, still runs like new.

 

OK, my first fix on my 2003 AC!
NEW TIRES
When I bought my truck, it had 305/70R16's on it. HORRIBLE TIRES, at least for me, too big, rubbing in turns, incorrect speed readout, poor handling. They had to go, and did so today!

I bought 4 Tundra rims dirt cheap, then spent several hours getting the brake dust off, paying special attention to the bead area.
They turned out quite nicely!

Ordered my new tires from Costco, they arrived yesterday, did a walk in at 1p today, they were finished at 1:45p NOT BAD!

The ride home was excellent, no tire rubbing in turns, no vibrations, and the speedometer finally has the correct MPH!


This may seem a step backwards for a lot of you, but I simply do not do off roading. I bought this truck to haul stuff, and it does that very well!

Anyone wanting to purchase the old tires & rims, PM me, take a drive on the wild side!

Anyone know what our AC readings should be? I found some conflicting stuff online. Is this one accurate?

For future reference, low side 22-36, high side 200-227

 

That’s a pressure temp chart for 134, not specifically what it’s doing in our system. I use those charts to tell if there is air/non condensables in the system based on static pressure/ temp

 

Thanks! For a newbie when it come to AC, I grab the pressure gauges from O'reillys and what do I want it to read? My guess is my system is just slightly low because it's cold, but not like my last tundra.

 

I’m not a car AC expert, there are a lot of variables when your just throwing a shot of gas in. I like to evacuate completely and charge by weight

 

Had a WHEELIE fun day today... All four wheels done. I forgot to take pics of the wheels, but remembered when I did the center caps.

Truxport. Fit is great, price is right. This is my 3rd Truxport. The one on my SR5 is over 12 tears old.
One thing to keep in mind though at the corners just behind the cab... the side rails never seem to meet the bulkhead rail in a way that makes the front corners completely water tight. There is usually a 1/4" - 1/8" gap that needs to be sealed between the rail to rail connection. I have found black RTV sealant to work perfectly for this,

 

well its been a busy couple of days, I was trying to find my heliplopter noise, I replaced drivers side hub bearing about 2 years ago so I figured it was probably the passenger side this time, r/r the CV axle while I was at it because those boots were thrashed. Still have my womwomwom. Ok maybe the torn boot on drivers side CV is cause r/r. Nope, put it on lift spun tires and it sounded like drivers hub bearing....okie doke, go to press it out aaaaaannnnd you can see how that went, there must have been a slight cant to the bearing last time I pressed it in because when I went to press it out the hub took half the bearing with it and the other half was seized and wouldn't budge for 8000 psi. Not wanting to see catastrophic failure and hurt myself or others I decided a "new" spindle from the PickAPart would be a better bet. I'm lucky they had this donor there for me, it had fantastic looking upper and lower ball joints and hub bearing already pressed in. I'm back on the road with no more crazy noise. When I bought the truck at 110k miles I thought for sure timing belt was done, now looking back through service records I can't verify it and with a 2000 mile road trip in about 2 weeks and the truck currently at 149k miles I don't want to chance it and have timing belt and water pump scheduled at the dealership on monday. Whew!
