Around 2013 I was at a big mortgage company, "yoooge", I won't say which one. Some people smelled blood, myself included. There was an up and coming mortgage company nearby and they were having a job fair. At the time I didn't have a printer, the job fair was on a Saturday. I drove to my office, touched up my resume and went to print it. Right as I was printing my resume, before I could walk across the atrium to the printer, a door opened and I saw one of my peers. We had a Mexican standoff style stare-down. I eventually walked to the printer and he gave a knowing nod. He sat at his desk, face glowing from the screen, and also walked to the printer. Instead of returning a knowing nod, I hastily left to the fair. I saw him coming in on my way out, and it looked like the fair had been picked over. They weren't allowing more interviews. I saw several others who I knew there, it was awkward.

Later that year the company was seemingly sinking with hundreds of people being let go every other Wednesday. The coworker I saw at my office that day was in the first sweep to be let go.

2 years later I got a call from that company and got hired on.

Now here is the good news, the thing I can say after my experience, you are better qualified than the majority of people who were at that job fair. If your ship is sinking, don't give up. Keep working hard and get noticed, it most likely will buy you time. Keep applying out actively, you won't get every job you apply for and you'll be not wanting some jobs you apply for. You'll land one and hopefully a good one.

 

Why the fuck do lake beers not equal regular beers? Who the fuck got me drunk in 6 hours?

OK so I've figured out the problem with beers at the lake.


Normal Beau has 2 beers an hour. This is while indoors and playing video games, or outdoors working on vehicles in moderate temps.

While at the lake temps are the same, but humidity has spiked. Now what happens the is heat transfer occurs at a lot more rapid pace so beers need to be consumed faster before reaching uuugh temp.

Therfore, the new norm at the lake while in outdoor situations is 3 beers per hour, a 50% increase over norm.

In conclusion: fuck your sobriety.

Ideally I am looking for a way to mount a big boy ham radio so I don't tear apart my dash like @Sunnier .

With it I could add an additional support leg for my current navigation mount setup. Radio mic clip point. Securing stuff where it is easily accessible and won't get bounced around, like my first aid kit. Wrapping charging and coax cables where they aren't loose and able to catch on stuff. I have a lot of ideas on how this could be useful with what I do with my truck.

 

I intended to get my license last year and I never got it done. Is there room in console? I want to get some radios but I don't want anything in sight all the time. I would go with a big portable before I did any of that. I just don't like a bunch of stuff in the cab with me.

I can’t picture what if hang from that. I could see it working for you though, but if you carried a passenger full time, I think it’d not be very practical. I don’t think that particular version would mount in a DC because our console is different, at least for in my 2002. That rear mounting point shown in the pic isn’t available on mine, which is barely above seat height and, I think, farther from the dash.

 

@des2mtn is your driver’s seat all fancy adjustable, with motors and whatnot beneath? It not, having ripped everything apart, I’d say that’s a good place for the radio base. Then you’d be able to mount the much lighter (smaller) face place in view somewhere in/ on the dash. My driver’s seat has a lot going on, so I figured I’d try fitting it in the dash, rather than under the passenger seat… longer wire runs to everywhere. But I may still have to mount it elsewhere than the dash. Looking like under the passenger seat would be a logical back-up option.

 

My statement about most Hoosiers knowing about them stands. *I suppose this is more an indictment of current society than Hoosiers specifically. Most people these days are content to know just enough to [generally] survive the 10-30 mile bubble they live in.

My statements about not having offsetting niceties to tolerate tectonic shenanigans stands as well.

I have the nice seat. I was able to toss a 3ft 3" strap under that seat. I don't think a radio would be any bigger than that. I bet you can get remote controls and readouts too.

 

Just get a PRC-152 and a Peltor headset. Radio will fit in the pocket on the back of your set. Bonus points if you have some sort of molle strap seat cover.

Gotta be all high speed and tacticklin.
