Pedal Commander

Saw Pedal Commander mentioned in a couple of post. Reviews seem impressive on the likes of Amazon. Is this MOD any good?

 

I love mine, zero issues.

 

Most people seem to like it. it is just one of those things you have to try yourself, but i wasnt impressed, especially for the price. I had it about a week and had some surging issues and returned it for a free refund. Someone recently almost got into an accident because their truck went into limp mode at exactly the wrong time.

I read the link and see the issue. Sounded like a nice idea but safety is a priority! Sent info to my son an he said to just go with OV Tune. LOL

 

I think it was an isolated incident and unverified facts. Many of us have one. I have had mine for 3 years and no issues.

 

I have the Sprint Booster for my 370Z. Does the same as the Pedal Commander and supposed to be the original. Anyway, I can definitely tell a difference in throttle response on my Z. Have other priorities with the Tundra right now but will consider something like this when the time comes.

 

I had the pedal commander for about a month. I usually used City or City +2. City +2 and the power in the RPM band was somewhat restored from installing 35s recently.

The "surging" I experienced with Sport and Sport+ mode was not as severe. However, the my MPG ultimately took a hit and I lost about 1.5-2.5 MPG. Eco mode is so slow and non-responsive - downright dangerous IMO and I only used that mode for about 2-3 hours and never utilized that mode again. I didn't feel the MPG decrease was worth it and actually started setting my PC to City -2 and lower, almost mimicking stock lol.

In the end, I returned it and am much more comfortable with the more natural feel of the pedal. I know my experience may be atypical of alot of forum members (others opinions actually motivated me to get the PC in the 1st place too), but to me it wasn't worth it. Just my honest opinion/experience. YMMV.

 

My field of expertise is engineering safety critical systems, the Banks video seems legit. If you put a device in between your throttle and the engine ECU, you should ensure it’s been designed to operate in a fail safe mode. Faults causing the vehicle to go into limp mode are not good.

 

This is the video I was just talking about with the differential covers amazing what this guy comes up with hope he lives a lot longer to keep going he makes all the other companies that make similar products look so stupid he's like the Mythbusters but a million times better

Ive got a 2016 1794 2wd and am looking to either a pedal commander or bully dog. Do bother offer eco mode and performance modes?

For a 2016, I would go Bully Dog over a PC, only because it offers more features. But at over $70 a unit more, maybe a PC will fit the build just fine.

I would call Keith Carty of Dirty Deeds Industries and pick his brain. No one knows Tundra's and Tuners like Keith does. He is out of the office most days, but is always available via phone. You can call or text him anytime at 760-877-4234. He does take many calls and texts a day, but is very good at getting back to everyone.

100% worth it imo. I’ve had it installed now for a few days and I’m very pleased. Been running it in “city” mode and currently getting much improved throttle response 18mpg on highway! By far the best mileage I’ve seen, past best was 16.7 on a long drive to Texas.

tell em Donald sent you! I told them just earlier today how happy I am with it and that I’d refer people their way.

 

Love my pedal commander, I dont know how I went without it. Not saving any gas with it, but thats not why I got it. Goes great with the Stillen CAI, and the BAMuffler.

 

I’m running 295/70/18 and just took a 4.5 hour trip and was seeing 14mpg with my pedal commander set on sport 3 . I went from a 2005 Nissan Armada to a 2018 tundra and was honestly disappointed with the performance. The pedal commander completely fixed the issue. Very happy with the product.

 

I have been using the non-Bluetooth version for a couple of years without a single issue.
