Well either way it is a dead one lol. I have a 1 year old and I don’t need that slithering around the backyard to get him. I was kinda thinking cotton mouth but I’m not sure. The inside of his mouth was white but either way I was killing it lol

pupils look round and not like thin slits, so no venomous. but it does look like a typical water snake.

I've seen those around hike/bike trails, although usually smaller than that. They do seem pretty temperamental when messed with, so now I leave them alone.

Looks like the head and a few inches behind it are still in good shape. If me, I would be asking the wife to check the mailbox this evening or something similar. Always love to get a good laugh in.

Im of the minority apparently. They eat all the piece of shit mice that get all up into your truck so I keep them around. Ive only encountered a couple rattlers at the valve sites at work, they get the relocation treatment a la bucket and truck ride.

That'd be what's known as a nope rope or a danger noodle. One of the things I like about living where the air hurts my face for 6 months a year. I'll take a pissed off grizzly, angry moose or ornery mountain lion over a nope rope any day.

Never saw a Western one but this is the kind we have. Not even close but I guess if you'd never seen them. Cottonmouths always have stubby tails.

I dig snakes, had a California king as a pet, I found it eating a western rattlesnake

Never understood the point of killing non-venomous snakes. They are the ones you want around.

I’m not scared of snakes but I’ve learned to respect them. Normally I wouldn’t kill one but like I said with a 1 year old running around and exploring everything the last thing I want is for him to be bit. Whether it be venomous or not.

I'm more so talking about everyone else and all the comments saying all snakes should be killed. Crazy how many grown men have irrational fear of snakes. The non-venomous ones kill the bad ones! This is a good thing.

100% agree. I like snakes. The only venomous snakes in my part of the country are rattlers, and they are very courteous. They do the warning noise before you are in danger, so you know where they are. As long as you know where they are, you're in no danger. I don't let my dog wander in snake country though. She's deaf and wouldn't be afraid of it even if she could hear it!

Haven't seen one in over 10 years at least.I used to catch them when I was a kid though. Little snakes don't bother me. I think are big snakes are cool, but I'll observe them from a distance and wouldn't just kill em on sight. I hung out 30 feet or so from a rattler a few years ago, neat critter but a definite danger noodle. I wouldn't want them in my yard. Those I would kill, same as my family who own ranches kill coyotes and wolves on their property.
