I hear you. I have two of them on me right now, and I'm getting ready to help a friend in a way that's going to be extra tight financially. Probably going to try to sell my RS1 very soon. Just don't want that much over my head!

Honestly, even not helping the friend, the RS1 is going to go. It's got nothing but speed to it. The Trail unit I have can go places it won't, has a second seat, storage, and payload options. The RS1 is a racer's rig, and I need a bit more utility.

Probably won't lose much, if anything, selling it right now. The cheapest sxs around here are like 20k for a used base model, if you can even find anything.

I'm not looking to cash in or anything. I'm asking a fair price. It was tipped over once, but it's super low miles and only cosmetic scuffs.

    There. I finally fixed it.

26x9-12 and 26x11-12 Bearclaw K299’s on ITP Delta steelies. Had to do the wheels to get rid of the 11”/12” wheel mismatch Honda does on the Ranchers, and be able to go with 26’s like I had on the old 350. Doesn’t look like it skipped leg day any more. :benchpress:

Looks nice. I've thought about doing an exhaust on mine, but I can't find anything that is quieter than stock. It's all stuff to make it louder, and while that's what I did on my truck, the SxS is plenty loud stock.

This has the electronic cut-out so closed, it should just be slightly louder than stock, then when I want to be loud I can open the cut-out!

Oh, it's all kinds of fancy. That wouldn't be a bad thing on a truck, but my SxS is already as loud as I'd ever want it. I must be getting old. :anonymous:

Can't go wrong with a X3! We have probably 2000+ miles on ours and had it a year, and bought it used with 1500 on it before that and haven't had a single (non user induced) issue, haven't even broken a belt yet. Most comfortable sxs out of the box I've been in, even being a base model. And the handling and seating position feels great too imo. Quads are fun, but putting on head sets and sitting with the wife and chatting while cruising at 60 through some deep whoops with lunch in the back can't be beat.

Definitely a few things that could use addressing (mainly everything I'm doing to this one) but these are very impressive out of the box.

Nice. They run forever. The family has 2 Ranchers and we just purchased a Rubicon last year. Even when falling off the side of a mountain they run.

Low 80s and scattered showers at Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Southern Utah, count me in! Neighbor is taking his Talon and YXZ and then another friend is taking his Turbo S.

Honestly they're not remotely comparable :D I've driven the Talon a fair bit, so here are my thoughts of comparisons:

Seating is hugely different, they're more similar to a RZR where you sit very up right and tall which imo is one of the nicest things on the X3 is how low and reclined you are. For reference the seat bottom on the talon is at or above the top of the tire, and in the X3 it's a little above the hub. There's legit probably a 12" difference in seat height despite having the same ground clearance. To me, that makes the talon feel very tippy since you're up so high. The interior is a lot more open and easier to get in and out of, the talon is really like a SUV interior layout wise compared to a sports car.

Power wise the talon is fucking horrible, today I drove it more since the yxz had some issues and it was so weak we couldn't even tow the yxz so had to grab the can am. The talon makes like 120hp, and granted our X3 is tuned now to a lot more but originally it was a 120hp model and even then the X3 would fucking move out, the talon can honestly barely get out of it's way. Low range, high range, floored, it is really lacking on power. I know there's turbo kits, and my neighbors is a 4 seater, but there is no comparison at all, I don't care what horsepower Honda claims, but a base model X3 is a small rocket by comparison.

Suspension wise, again no comparison, the Honda rides absolutely horrible. Our suspension is still 100% stock, no springs or valving or arms or anything, both machines are 64". The talon has the electronically adjustable shocks, but even on the softest setting it rides like a truck (and not a tundra :D ). The can am feels like the suspension is putting in work, and feels really dialed and balanced--theres a lot of room for improvement (or so I've heard, hopefully that'll happen soon) but for being stock and not having bypasses or electronics or really any adjustability it handles whoops amazing and jumps and drops and everything it handles great. The talon feels like the suspension is just stiff and doesn't want to move, it doesn't really inspire confidence and soak stuff up and the chassis doesn't feel balanced (maybe it's how tall it is, or the suspension, or the power, but the X3 you can throw into a drift and it rotates amazingly and really controlled and the talon feels like it doesn't want to move and would rather fall over).

So before making this post ultra huge, I think that covers the main points. As my neighbor says, he bought it because it's a Honda and will run forever and his wife can't hurt herself :D where as the X3 is completely performance driven, to the point where most upgrades are to keep the chassis together since the suspension and drivetrain and handling are so good out of the box. I'd honestly take probably anything over a Talon, I don't think it's bad, but personally I got a UTV for performance and to haul ass and the talon is the bottom of the barrel in regards to performance, it might be reliable but the X3 has been super reliable too. Excuse my novel :D

The talon and the yxz have bad rear geometry for speed on whoops and such. The physics of it just means they'll buck and ride rough, and no suspension upgrade or adjustment is going to fix that. It's just how they're designed with weight distribution.

Really basic rundown on the brands as I understand it follows.

    CanAm
    • Highest performance ceiling if modded
    • Solid out of the box if not abused
    • Could use beefing up on some components if you're going to ride hard(double shear bolts, etc.)
    • Reclined driving position
    • Lots of mods and accessories
    • Aimed at modders/tuners
    Honda
    • Solid drive train that'll never die
    • Upright driving position
    • Poor rear geometry means it'll never ride smoothly over rough stuff
    YXZ
    • Solid out of the box
    • Expensive but extremely reliable
    • Excellent forward visibility
    • Same poor rear geometry as the Talon
    RZR
    • All around good to great performance out of the box
    • Upright Seating position
    • Lots of accessories
    • Decent reliability if not overly abused and maintained well
    • Aimed at owners that just want to buy and drive
    • Priced well for performance and durability compared to others
