It was a fun trip! My sister lives in Washington so my buddy flew out to Portland and we picked him up. Went with a guide for 2 days who supplied the boat, equipment etc. We caught fish and saw many others who did not catch a thing. The first day we caught about 30 Sturgeon, but only 3 were keepers...had a blast. Second day we caught 3 smallish salmon (for Kings they were small) and a really nice native steelhead that had to be released. The guides name was Steve and he was worth every penny!

    Parker canyon.
I usually do better at Patagonia, but there is a HP limit on Parker canyon so it's a lot more peaceful.

I hear you, I really try to schedule weekdays at the lakes as once it hits; well, now through September , weekends are tough with lots of chaos. I guess we should be happy we don't live in Cal where they have to shut the lakes down. But, you can still find a semblance of seclusion and I have to remember this guy really could care less about anything other than getting in, or on the water and wetting a line...

Hatteras offshore, Trigger galore. These are bottom feeding fish. We fish in about 100-300' of water using 2 hook rig baited with squid. These are very tasty fish, Mmmm. U guys ever do jig tubes? I've found out here, on the lakes, I seem to have success using jig tubes for trout and crappie.

I have never caught a fish with a jig tube. Have had some luck with spinners, powerbait and salmon eggs over the years.
My best success is with the good ol' worm. Night crawler to be exact.

That's what I caught that guy off of. I put a bobber about 5ft above the skirted jig and kept working it from the shore line. Never really did it before, but it worked. I used one of the bobbers people use for flys (clear and fill up with water) to get some distance

Nah, probably should of but we didn't have a scale and I didn't want to keep it. He's out in the water making monster crappie babies as I type.

i really hate crappie fishing though, out of the 10-15 times I've been that's my third ever crappie. I decided to just go out on top and never go again!

Was bass fishing on Sunday. Got a few decent smallmouth and one largemouth for a few hours of fishing. Was casting a drop shot rig about 4-5ft short of the bank. Smallmouth were about 2 lbs, largemouth was probably a pound or so.

We rigged lures with ballyhoo Bob. I actually learned how to rig the baits the night before. Nice to catch fish on baits you rigged.

On the sad side....15,000+ acre wildfire near Markleville. Called the folks at the resort and the fire is one ridge away from the East fork of the Carson River....good chance it will get messed up this winter due to all the vegetation being gone...love fishing this river so it's gonna really suck if it gets messed up, and also the loss of all the trees and such...kinda like fishing a wasteland.
