Is this a sweet deal on a TRD PRO or does something look off?

Did they make you pay for the remote start? Cause that comes stock on a 2020+ TRD Pro.

It did not have a remote start from the factory. It appears to be a factory option. I got an Arctic Start with report back.

Happens all the time. Many Tundra/Tacoma/4Runner listings come up for sale listed as a “Pro” when they are indeed not.

I think it obvious and easy to tell it’s not but maybe for some it isn’t…

It definitely comes stock in the TRD Pro. For some reason, most of the dealers don't even know this - I had to show my salesman, and the sales manager how to work it when I bought my 2020. I don't think it even mentions it in the manual for some reason. You actually also get a free year of Toyota Connected Services which gives you the app, where you can start, lock, unlock, and track your truck from your phone.

I know about the app, I have no intention of continuing or even enabling the trial. But my key fob doesn't activate the remote start. I've tried every which way and we tried before purchase. Which... I'm OK with. I've heard it isn't very good anyway and doesn't have report back.

EDIT: Of all the options the TRD Pro is lacking, remote start should have been the least of their concerns. I'd honestly take any of the other things that are missing over the remote start.

The weird thing is that you have to activate your trial to get the key fob to work, it really makes no sense - but that's how they set it up. A bunch of us had issues with it last year when our 2020 trial subscriptions started to end, and the key fob stopped working. Toyota fixed it for us though. I actually like the app, I'm not sure what you mean by "Report Back", but if you mean it tells you that your command worked - the app does that. It'll tell me the truck started up, it'll only run for 10 minutes - so it'll tell me if it turned off after 10 minutes. If I send a command to lock, it'll tell me "Truck Locked Successfully"; or if there was an issue, I think once I lost signal right after sending the signal so it told me it failed. I also like that it'll tell me if I left my truck unlocked if it stays unlocked for 10 minutes - cause like once a month I forget to lock it and feel like an idiot in the morning.

Strange. I've set up the app, I can lock/unlock from the app. But remote start says "Please make sure all preconditions are met, then try again".

Wonder if my dealership removed the factory remote start to put in the arctic start.

That is strange, but I know for sure it comes stock in the 2020+ Pros. That said, I just looked at the Arctic and it looks pretty slick.

As every person has pointed out, that's not a pro, I sincerely hope whomever traded that in got Pro money for it. Some dealers are idiots it seems.

It's pretty useful. My wife can start her 4Runner from inside Walmart with hers. No phone subscription necessary. That said, if I can prove it has remote start and get my dealer to move the installed remote start over to my Yaris, I'd be pretty happy.

I could not stand it any longer and sent them a message. It is still listed. Did Pros come in silver?

They replied, apologized, and blamed it on the software company that updates inventory.

It's looking like there are a ton of the plain jane SR5's popping up as Pro's...... Nice software company

Yah, it's really strange to me that it's not an advertised feature. I think it's included stock in all the models that came with push button start. I do know for sure it's stock on the Pros.

JD Power for you. I should have asked if they were also going to adjust the price.

I could only find them in midnight black metallic, super white(?), and Vodoo blue. Think I’ve seen some in silver, tan, cement gray though.

They do come in Cement. Dealer had one on the lot when I bought my truck. Sales lady tried to sell it to me. I told her nope wrong color.

Why is it every damn used car salesman sees a TRD sticker on a SR5 and calls it a PRO ?

Seriously - when I was looking I must have had at least 15 “false” Pro’s that someone called me on - pissed me off first few I drive to look at - got smart and made them email/text me a picture of grille going forward.

Best one was guy I told it’s not a Pro (nicely) and told him how to identify a Pro quickly - he argued with me and said wanna bet - I quickly took that bet and said meet me a half mile down the street at the Toyota dealer parts in 45 minutes and bring cash.

He was dumb enough to show - then after losing said “I was just joking around” - yet if I had been wrong I guarantee he’d have been barking for his $$.

Really funny part is they actually DID have a Pro they got in that day - stupidly priced and high miles, but a Pro. If dipshit woulda brought it - he could have at least not have looked like a total moron.
