I picked up a 2006 Tundra about a month back. I'm finally noticing all the little things needing replacement. The truck currently has 180k miles and I'd like to get another 180k out of it. I know these things are notorious for lower ball joints. I'm sure it needs them. I would rather just replace everything in the front end and have an Uber comfy confident ride since I hold on to vehicles forever. Napa quoted me $12XX for everything and I can do the work myself. Does anyone have recommendations on where to get the best parts at honest prices? Again I would rather just buy once cry once, and have something that I don't need to worry about for another decade. Thanks in advance.

"How much" doesn't mean as much as "Who". Napa ball joints are, if memory serves me correctly, made by DANA. MOOG is also one of the best, if not the best. Check around to see who has either one at the best price. I'd also get a quote from Toyota for OEM. After all, look how long the first set lasted.

You can buy everything aftermarket. But for the love of all that is holy, spend a little more coin on the OEM joints. These trucks when they fail it’s catastrophic. The OEM is built much better than the aftermarkets.

It sounds like MOOG quality has fallen.

Their quality for Japanese vehicles has been lacking for a while. But still 5x better than Ford/Chevy/Chrysler.

1st gens have a different ball joint design that is more prone to failure.

OP, I'd check the upper and lower control arm bushings, the sway bar end links, sway bar bushings, steering rack bushings and upper ball joints. Lots of rubber parts that degrade over time.

Moog lower ball joints are rebranded made in Japan 555 ball joint. Very good quality compared to the made in China junk out there.

Spend on OEM. Nothing but OEM on the LBJ.
