Just received my order of my engine and transmission skid from RCI.

It’s a great piece of steel for protection, however, the edge of my engine skid was damaged during transport. Seems like the FedEx guys had dragged my skid plate and dropped it as it is shaved off as well as slightly bent.

It may not be too big of a deal... since it’ll eventually get scratched and banged up, but do you guys think I should contact RCI about this?

Will the bent edge affect anything as far as fitment goes?

Hard to tell how bent it is, it will probably be fine, but I prefer to do the damage myself as opposed to installing brand new damaged goods LOL I would want a new skid but I would also hate going through the process of returning and waiting for a new one again. That’s a tough one. Now maybe if I could get a discount because of it and just keep it, that would help me make my decision.

Yeah, that's my thought process to be honest. Maybe I should @ RCI and have them chime in... @RCIoffroad

Just hit it with paint or bedliner and install it. I'm pretty sure RCI wouldn't send it out like that. Cardboard is abrasive so it looks like an in-transit shipment damage.

I wouldn't worry about it. A little Krylon Rust Tough semi flat black and you should be good. Suggested by RCI after my sliders got scraped up.

My transmission skid showed up last week. Six days from order to delivery.

Seriously, it definitely couldn't wait! But you know how we all are, we want to be the one making the damages to our toys, not other people!

Agree with everyone else, paint the spot and install.

Looking forward to pics! I got only the RCI engine plate, very happy with it. It's still twice the size the stock plate, it's massive.

I'd contact them. Someone damaged it, likely courier and they would be held accountable

RCI will probably tell you to file a FedEx claim. Do it and see if they offer some compensation.

You have nothing to loose (just some time sending a claim in).

Thanks for the suggestion, I just submitted. We'll see what FedEx will do.

Typical Fedex, the worst of the worst. Unless you knew you were buying a damaged product, I would contact them. My Warn bumper showed up damaged. Received a partial credit from the seller, they were going to file with Fedex. I beat the hell out of it, Raptor lined, and now all is well. But it took some effort to get things aligned.

I'm now an RCI dealer as well .

They're definitely good guys to call and chat with, but if you're looking to just buy I can help you out and save you sales tax in the process :)

@pvn.beluga having gone through FedEx claims process before they may give you a little money, but expect a bit of a battle. You got the right pictures though which is good. Everything from what it looked like upon delivery to step-by-step disassembly. My .02 is that since that damage is in a location on the skid plate that is hidden when installed (at least I think that's what I am looking at) I would do what others said as well. Hit it with some rattle can to protect from corrosion and you're off to the races. With lead times the way they are my best guess is that you'd kick yourself for going through a return process...

Thanks for the input @memario1214 . I definitely did get some rust-oleum and sprayed that corner. The corner is actually well hidden under the OEM front bumper. Not necessarily out of sight, out of mind, but it's a skid plate. Lol
