I’m not sure if or how it would have changed my purchasing decision, but I regret not researching and comparing more of the various 3rd Gen. Tundra packages and modification options.

I bought a base 2019 SR and regretted the fact that it had bench seats and column shifter and a tiny gas tank. I solved that by flipping it for an SR5 with the upgrade package with center console and 38 gallon tank! LOVE the larger fuel tank.

I also regret the center console wireless charger - mine only works intermittently.

    Only regrets so far:

    1) Going with 2wd instead of 4wd. Not that I would use it a ton, but I am conscientious of where I can take my truck.

    2) Not having the 38 gallon tank. Not as big a deal, this is fixable. I may eventually swap.

Other than that I really love my truck and get quite a few compliments about it.

The BIGGEST regret ever of my life was getting rid of my 05 TRD!! Even tho is was 2WD I never got stuck in the snow when I was stationed in North Dakota. My oldest son still talks about it. If I could find the dude that got it I’d buy it back in a heart beat.

my second regret was not upgrading to leather interior. Especially with kids.

    other the. That I’m good

I regret getting rid of my 2001 Tundra V8 4x4, but family necessitated more seating. Now with the Crewmax and bigger boat, I do wish that I’d bought a 2014-2018, but will add a trans cooler to the 2021 if needed. I definitely prefer proven designs and fewer features, not too tempted by what 2022 would bring.

I regret trading mine in. But the dealer gave me $11,000 more in trade than I paid 10 months ago brand new. The used truck market is insane right now . Hopefully the 2022s are promising I’ll be back in a Tundra soon unless they start offering a V8 in the 4runners again.

I regret buying a painted TRD Pro grill from Sparks Toyota and not putting PPF on it. The paint started chipping within months, revealing the original red paint underneath. If I would have known the paint was going to be crap, I would have PPF'd it before installing it. Now it has to be resprayed.

I wish they offered a Platinum with a double cab option...:D

And that Platinum double cab had a roll down back window like my 2005 DC had...

I started out doing small mods knowing that some time along the way I would do something stupid so my regret thus far was to buy the extenders and red shackles ($100) for the front of the truck. As one of my tundra brothers here told me “it looks like a pair of nuts hanging down!” They came off that day.

Does sparks not order factory painted grills/surrounds? The one I got from Toyota of cool springs is.

Biggest regret is not really looking for an auxillary transmission cooler prior to signing. Before buying another truck I will rent a similar one and drive it for 12-15 hours to test the seats, the seats in mine straight up suck beyond 10 hrs. Thank you Uniden for shortening my trips! On a good note, I won't fall asleep at the wheel.

I regret letting Toyota spray my frame when it only accelerated the corrosion process inside my frame rails. My treatment of POR-15 worked well; theirs did not. Now I have holes in the bottom of the frame rail from where it rusted inside out.

Ones that “got away” - a few from last year.

Worst was a 2018 Platinum with 18k on the clock. Dealer was asking 35k (keep in mind this was March/April right out of the lockdown and NO ONE was buying) - I offered 28, figuring they would meet me at 30…we got to 31/29500 on negotiations and I said make it 30 and deal….they countered at 30,200 and I said no.

Could have driven that for a year and then traded in for a decent profit on my Pro. Instead I refused to budge - they shipped it to auction the next week and we both probably think what we could have sold it for now.

At least I invested my 30k in the market. That helped ease the pain….a bit.

I regret that the platinum has a terrible audio system. You’d think for an msrp of $57k a man could get a decent radio. ‍
