I've stayed out of Dogecoin because there is no business case for it, which means it's not much better than a casino. More power to y'all that have made some cash on it though!

It's well on the way!!! I bought it at $250, after it had gained over 10x in a year!

The only real play out of those stocks is OG GME. The others weren't/aren't shorted nearly as much. Last house hearing on the subject, a DTCC rep said under oath that no one was margin called during the January run up. They haven't covered & are still in way over their heads. Gamestop shareholder meeting is tomorrow. Something interesting might come from that. Number of shares that voted in excess of the float? dividend payment coming? Either of those two would be very interesting. Or nothing might happen from it, who knows. /opinion /not financial advice /I don't know what I'm talking about

I am a big fan of dollar cost averaging, with a split of 20% cash (rainy day fund), 40% stocks (growth) and 40% crypto (growth and inflation hedge). My stock bucket is heavy on tech, with an eye on future industries such as space exploration, AI, cloud computing, biotech, robotics and next generation energy systems. I'm also heavy on dividend funds, which I focus on rather than bonds, they compound nicely with the dividends automatically reinvesting. I'm holding steady over the year, and am up roughly 60% over the last 3 years. In addition I put 4% of the cash bucket with a 4% match into my companies 401k, with 75% of that in a target retirement date fund and 25% in high risk/ high reward growth funds. I'm in my 40's so my horizon is long, and I'm willing to tolerate a good amount of risk. I've been investing in Crypto since 2016, and dollar cost averaging smooths out the volatility. I lean heavily into Etherium, Bitcoin, Chainlink, Graph, Algorand, Cardano and Polygon. Actual use cases with me are important with Crypto, as there is a lot of crap in the industry. I avoid meme coins, although apparently I should have bought some Doge when it was $.0005... Never saw a use case for a joke coin, but apparently Gen Z enthusiasm outweighs fundamentals... All in all, the time in the market adage holds very true, as my market timing seems like a 50/50 bet most of the time. I am studying and learning technical analysis to improve this, as I have had some good luck day trading crypto in particular, and utilize a trading bot for simple small percentage gain swing trading. Most important thing I found was just to get started and don't pay too much attention to the market swings. (My personal strategy only. Not financial advice. Trade at your own risk.)

I have 3% of my total net worth in crypto, I keep dollar cost averaging here and there. But for now in a long game I feel this position is safe.

Profit Trailer Cloud. They have a free version you can run on Binance if you want to just try it out. You can get a monthly subscription or a lifetime license. It has a paper trading feature so you can get your strategies dialed in before you let it make actual trades. Would highly recommend doing paper trades with it for awhile. You can also get trading strategy scripts which can help a lot with your settings. I would recommend looking up Cryptognome, he has some very good scripts based on how aggressive you want to get. I would also recommend just starting with a few trading pairs until you get comfortable with it. You can white list specific pairings. I primarily trade BTC and ETH pairs, as my goal is to grow my position in those, rather than USD. If you get serious about it, I would also recommend getting a subscription to Cointracker. It can monitor your trades and track your tax liability, which can really be a pain otherwise.

Are you speaking Japanese, cuz that's what I am reading.. I truly admire reading your posts, and am impressed by your knowledge. I want so much to really understand all this, but it just feels so foreign to me. I will continue to read and learn from you. I keep telling myself just take a $1000 or $2000 and just get started w/the basics of crypto, you gotta start somewhere.

I would wait to see if BTC makes a higher high in the next couple days, if it does buy in BTC and ETH and let it sit.

Problem is I don't even know where or how to start? I don't want to attach any of my current checking, savings, etc. to this so I am thinking about just just opening a new checking account at a separate bank so I can use strictly for crypto. Because of my lack of understanding of the whole crypto thing, I want it completely separate from any of my other investments. I plan on making weekly deposits w/my play money so I can learn, build, invest, etc. and not have to worry about it affecting my long term goals.

I would make a Coinbase account very secure and insured and link it to your checking account, that's what I do. I keep very little in my checking and when I make a big crypto purchase I move money from savings into checking to buy it.

Ya, this is my thinking as well. I have been trying to read and learn as much as possible as I do think there is much to be had w/the future of crypto. Thanks for the input. I start a 2 week vacation tomorrow, so I think I will jump in the water and start learning to swim in the crypto pool.

Isn't this some sh*t? Last week I sold 90% and placed it in high yield bond funds PHYZX,MFHVX,etc. I'm sitting this correction out lol.

Moved more from savings to Schwab to buy the next low. Hold on tight! :dancingbacon:

Having lived through 2008 and lost everything I had ever worked for, dove into how money works.

My conclusion, the nobody I am, I believe it all comes down to the Central Banks. My investment strategy is fairly simple, once the crash happened last year, I knew the privately owned “Federal” Reserve would start printing currency at an extremely high pace which would cause inflation. I hedged against inflation and it worked out well but I wasn’t expecting it to get this bad. I thought for sure they’d acknowledge the rate of inflation and adjust as needed, I was wrong. Seems the “Federal” Reserve along with all central banks are set on inflating debt away. If this continues, the entire civilized world will experience what Venezuela is going through. Eventually China will back their currency with Gold/Silver and claim reserve currency of the world. Basically how the dollar became the reserve currency except now China is the producer of the world and has the largest gold reserves.

Regular people being destroyed by inflation is basically inevitable in my opinion. Unless an economic crash the likes of the Great Depression takes place, I fully expect all the paper money pumped into the system to lose more and more value as time goes by. Think inflation is bad now? Get ready to be blown away.

I had 460,000 doge and sold in Jan! Never would’ve thought something made as a joke would get to .70 just nuts.

You all may hate me for saying this since you sound a lot like Reddit but every single time throughout history when a currency inflates and loses its value, it’s replaced by what has been money for thousands of years. Even the Constitution states ONLY 1 thing can be money in America. The founding fathers knew how currency backed by nothing and made from nothing ended up. Eventually all crypto will be banned because the powers at be can’t control it and since the entire world considers the same item as true value, it would be a decent insurance policy to hold some. Mainly, the item to hold has the largest naked short of any commodity in the world. Most undervalued asset right now because basically every other day someone drops massive paper shorts at 10AM eastern time.

@Voss love your comments, sorry to hear about your 2008 experiences and glad you’ve learned so much sense, i gotta keep learning too.

your comment about the us dollar being the reserve currency is the biggest elephant in the room. This is not political it is factual, China is trying to replace the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Hey, it’s competitive I don’t fault any nation for wanting to be the reserve currency. The day the us dollar isnt the reserve currency, every piece of financial advice any of us has ever been given goes away. Except owning lots of land i guess :/

2008 was a great learning experience. Life is all about learning and growing. In regards to China, indeed they are after that status and they have help. A few years back China, Russia, India, Brazil and South Africa established the Brics Bank to counter the IMF which the “Western” countries basically control. The world has been patiently waiting for the right time. Ever since Nixon took us off the Gold Standard, the countdown to the dollar’s demise started ticking. The only reason we didn’t lose our reserve status at the time was because Saudi Arabia agreed to back the dollar with their oil in exchange for military protection. Well, about a week ago SA signed a military defense agreement with Russia. Tic tok, tic tok.

Besides land or any commodity really, it would be a good idea to have tradable assets. Can’t trade land for necessities.
