Same here; I mean, I like a large screen, but there's a difference between a large screen and a screen that

TAKES UP THE ENTIRE FREAKING MIDDLE OF THE DASH.

a lariat powerboost is on my short list, first time I have ever considered a Ford. I’m waiting on the tundra and the supply market to stabilize a bit first though

It does look cool. But it seems like it would be distracting to have a mini TV sticking up into your field of vision like that. Maybe it’s the angle of this pic, though. Perhaps it’s more peripheral from the drivers seat.

Gotta say I like my giant knobs I don’t have to look at to turn. :notsure:

That's actually a huge reason we looked into a Tundra. Wife drove it this winter and came back, telling me "NOW I understand why all the buttons and knobs are big on the Tundra. I had MITTENS on and I could still push and turn everything I needed to!"

I can't speak for others but for me it's not insecurity. It's experience. I've owned all the Big 3 half tons. I've run Fords from old Rangers to new F450s at work. They have always been the most unreliable trucks in the fleet, resulting unacceptable downtime. The last 2 companies I worked for dropped Ford and now run GM and Ram with more success.

I currently drive a brand new 2021 F150 for work. It has less than 200 miles on it. The window motors are already buggy and it's being dropped off at the dealer this weekend for a slipping transmission. My manager's identical truck with under 500 miles has electrical problems too. I owned a 2013 F150 as a personal vehicle I bought lightly used in 2014. Sold it after 18 months and over $6000 in warranty work plus $1200 out of pocket.

So yeah, I'm more than happy to take shots at Ford all day long. I'll never own another one.

Also to add to this is my friends brand new F150 who spent 4 months in the shop right after purchase. Burning through more Oil than gas. Took a lawyer to get Ford to replace the engine

I would also add that Ford is brought up most in comparison because they lead the market, and because it appears the powertrains will be extremely similar to one another.

    Call it, Friendo.
The only other truck I'm kicking around right now is a 2500 Cummins but I'm down to about 0% interest in those after reading of so many issues. I'll deal with whatever the Tundra's new numbers are for towing or even my 16 for a bit longer.

All the Ford bashing above sounds purely anecdotal— “my friend’s”, “my fleet”, “Ford sucks because my friend’s friend said that it was buggy”— go drive one and figure it out.

I made the jump and couldn’t be happier. None of you guys keep your trucks 10 years, so who cares.

The resale argument is moot as well, since all you guys dump 15-20k into your trucks in mods and never get that money back when it comes time to sell.

nope sauce (as my kids say).

My first vehicle was a ford and my last ford was my first. Nothing but trouble from day one to the happy day I traded it in for a Honda.

I'll be keeping my Tundra till it dies or I win the lottery.

The only mod I have that isn't removable easily is my bed slide.

My distain for all things ford is all the people I know who have ever had the misfortune of owning one. Myself included.

Ford outsells our beloved Tundra by what? 8 to 1. If Ford was that bad I believe we would see them broken down all the time. I see them on the road driving all the time.

    I've owned the following trucks:

    - 1995 F250
    - 2003 F150
    - 2013 F150

1995 F250 7.3L was freaking fantastic. The rest of the truck....not so much. (Replaced turbo, starter, fuel filter preheater, etc.)

2003 F150 was actually pretty damn good; VERY little broke on it.

2013 F150 had all sorts of things wrong - media system, rough idle they never could fix, back window busted 3x, right rear suicide door (SuperCab) would not stay latched in the winter, and I could go on.

Yes, these 3 things are anecdotal.....but enough anecdotes together = statistics.

Exactly, I like my Tundra. But, there must be something positive about the Ford drivetrains or Toyota wouldn’t be copying Ford.

Of course they're not 'crap' - e.g., it's not like 50% of *ANY* vehicle is breaking down. With that said, statistics don't lie; and many of us have personal experiences that back up the statistics we've read. I mean, I may sound like a Tundra fanboy @ times, but I'm 45 and only NOW (last year) have I owned my first Tundra. Have bought Ford up to this point...so it's not like I hate Ford. It's just that experience caught up to and overrode my hopes and dreams. LOL

Well, I did a search on the Lexus LS TTV6.
I could be keeping my 5.7 for a few more years. Shit. :(

I do too. LOL I'm not saying they're wrong, even. I'm just saying that they've put out some kinda crap articles in the past more than a few times; so I'll wait for more respectable sources to corroborate/confirm, is all. :)

**Warning: predictable response from me below**

Yeah and when the only comprehensive, long-term reliability study (with more than statistically adequate sample sizes) is brought up and shown to mirror all these anecdotal experiences, Ford fans dismiss it with some kind of irrational hand waving. I get it; everyone has their biases.

All that to say, it would be one thing if the only evidence were anecdotal, but that is simply not the case.

“Long term” is what we’re talking about here. All these tundra guys keep their trucks (me included) “short term”— why does it matter then??

I didn’t keep any of my personal domestics because they weren’t reliable. I bought each one with the plan of keeping them for 10+ years. When a truck needs constant and expensive repairs in the first year or two, I get rid of it.

My Tundra is 16 years old and has been flawless. I have no plans to buy a new truck until my current truck is 20 year old, which would be almost 10 years of my ownership. Then I’ll buy a new or nearly new truck and drive it for 10+ years if it’s reliable. My experience says Toyota build the truck most likely to meet that goal, so that’s what I’ll buy.

Speak for yourself please. I generally keep my Toyota's for ~ 8-10 yrs, and ~200k miles. Usually with minimal mods and nor costly repairs over their lifetimes.

Not to mention those who prefer to buy used trucks. I think it's widely known that a used Toyota Truck will have a longer life with fewer issues than a used Ford (comparing same year and mileage). Plus, they hold their value better.

Not all. I think the % of guys who do keep them long term is higher among Tundra owners.

And yeah if you don’t mind keeping a payment and paying a new down payment/taxes/etc every couple years, knock yourself out.

    interesting, thanks for the link

what does that matter now though? the trucks that are out are the trucks that are out.

Im not even sure I want a hybrid turbo type deal, I haven't come around to that fully yet, thats part of why that NA 6.2 V8 AT4 speaks so loudly to me.

I love the hybrid turbo. I’ll never go back. Insanely fast, and in town driving is absurdly good.
