Hello everyone, so about a year-and-a-half ago I purchased a set of the Morimoto XB LED headlights for my Tundra truck. I'm now noticing that there appears to be some sort of moisture and dust build-up on the inside of the headlight assemblies (see pics). Has anyone else purchased these and had similar issues? It's disappointing because when I purchase these, I was told that they were 100% sealed units (quality being a large part of the $1200.00 price tag). I haven't contacted the place where I bought them yet but I'm assuming that I should be able to get these replaced since they came with a 5 year warranty. Any input is welcome and appreciated.

I would really hope so. This was my next planned purchase to replace my halogen headlights. Please keep us posted as to how the manufacturer responds.

Had mine since September. We have some pretty stormy weather on and off. They are still in pristine shape. I'd start a claim if possible. Never heard of this occurring.

All of that is on the inside? Where did you purchase them from? If you don't have any luck with your vendor, contact @Headlight Revolution. They have a 5 year warranty and they haven't been out for 5 years, so I would hope that they would be able to assist you.

Whoa, that shouldn't happen on a $1,200 pair of lights for a long, long time.

I had XBs on my Tacoma for about a year and they saw some very heavy off road use, smacked by trees, brush, etc. No cracks, no moisture. This is definitely a warranty claim.

Well, update here. The company didn't hesitate to help me replace these lights. The only bummer is I have to put out a 700 dollar deposit to get the new ones (until I send them the faulty pair). I could have avoided that and sent them mine before they shipped out the replacements but then I'd have to change the relay and all that stuff to put my halogen lights back on. Just relieved that the warranty is legit. You never know until something like this happens.

Good to hear! I used all Morimoto stuff on my retrofit and have only heard good things about them.

I installed mine this year. I bought it from headlight revolution for less cuz of holiday sale. That was my concern too. But they said the 5 year warranty will cover it. Man! My truck looks so different with these lights on. Worth every penny

They have a 5 year warranty so you will be covered. I have had mine in for a year or so & they still look new. Only issues I've had have been with the wiring harnesses. I have received outstanding service from TRS.

Hey folks, update on my warranty claim with the morimoto headlights.
There doesn't seem to be any issues with the manufacturer but I'm really questioning my decision to buy these lights through TRS. I heard nothing but great things about this company but as of late I'm having my doubts. When I spoke to about my problem they were like "sure, just send us $750.00 and we'll send out your replacements". Then, once they receive the faulty pair back, my money gets refunded. What they failed to mention at the beginning of March when I sent them the money was that they wouldn't have any lights in stock before March 31st! I don't have a lot of cash just laying around so 750.00 is a bunch of money for me. My issue is why would they take my money and not even mention to me that they were out of stock?! So, there I was, waiting for the email telling me my lights had shipped for over a week until I called to find out what was going on. To me, that seems like a shady way of doing business. I won't bore you all with the details other than to say that as of today, I'm still waiting for my refund that I asked them to return to me over a month ago.... The only question I have left to ask is since it's a manufacturers warranty, can't I do the return with any company that carries their products? Thank you in advance

With the way the Morimoto warranty process works, you would not be able to source a headlight from just any shop sadly. They all are assigned a set amount of their own housings for orders that went through their shop, so pulling a replacement from them would cause issues with their inventory. You'd have to work through your warranty process with TRS. It is a bit of a tedious warranty process, but you shouldn't have to go through this again after it's wrapped up!

I'll shoot you a PM here in a minute to see how I can help out with the process!

I have morimoto XB on my 2008 Tundra. When I first got the late last year the driving lights (led surround) would stay on when the lights were turned off to the off position.

Now when the lights are in the off position, no led surround is illuminated. It’s weird it worked one way for months and then stopped.

Which is the normal function? Should the leds surround be illuminated or not when the lights are in the off position?

Those are daytime running lights. They should be on when the truck is running, and they dim 50% when you turn the headlights on.

Did your truck have DRL's? I thought that years model had the amber turn signal always on? Not sure if Morimoto Pirated that signal or not? I know on my 2019 they did not use the same DRL signal the truck commonly used to light up the DRL's on the factory headlights. Did they have you wire the DRL's into a new fuse or unused fuse outlet as they did on the later models? That might be where you would want to look to see if that fuse has blown.

The DRLs on the Morimotos use a fuse tap for power and get plugged into the IGN fuse slot in the engine compartment fuse box.

That’s right! They used to be on all the time and then dim 50% when I turned on lights to the next setting.

I wonder why they aren’t working as DRLs anymore?

My fuse blew again for the DRL on my Morimoto xb head lights. Any idea what may be causing this?

Did you by any chance recently have any factory recalls done?
I actually think your wiring harnesses are going bad but that really is a stab in the dark. How long did the fuse last?

So I don’t have these on the Tundra, but last year I bought a set from Z1 Motorsports for my 370z. Started having issues with them earlier this year. I was a part of the first batch manufactured. They sent me through TRS and I had to do a similar thing with the $750 deposit. Everything went pretty smooth except I did have to reach out to TRS after they received my returned headlights to make sure they credited me back.
