Sequoia is much larger, and it will be with the TT V6

No V8s, only V6s for now, my work is supply chains for OEMs.

    - LC300 kept same size as LC200 in exterior dimension and wheelbase.
    - LXxxx (whatever they want to call them) will be almost identical to LC300 in dimension
    - Tundra and Sequoia is based on TGNA-F but they are much wider, just like current Tundra vs LC200, Sequoia will debut around end of the year and TT V6 will be sole engine at launch, it's more close to current Tahoe/Yukon in size, so its giant, interior will be similar to Tundra but not as fine as LC300.

Bringing LC300 to NA or not is like a damn pandora box with Toyota , many senior level want to bring it because the name means something, everyone who buys a 4runner/Sequoia/Tundra/Tacoma all want a Land Cruiser, and they realize that, it's the Corvette of Toyota, but they just don't sell that much because LC200 is an old platform and they don't have fleet buyers for them, so on one hand they want to bring it for marketing sake, but they also realize how expensive it is to bring it here for the program, then Lexus is desperate to follow BMW/MB steps on profit, they want the LX to be a success, and they are afraid bringing LC300 will eat into LX's sales.

I personally just want an UN spec LC200 with manual transmission, that thing will probably outlast my grand kids.

    Great insight @Downytide
I think Toyota will figure out a way to bring the LC300 back as a niche off-roader that is more capable and masculine than the Sequoia, but not as luxurious as the LX. The GR Sport looks like it fits the bill, and a note in the launch video did say that model will be released later. Plus Toyota just debuted “GR” models in other North American segments so this market will recognize the badge. I can see the Sequoia price range $55-$75k, the GR Sport LC300 somewhere around $80k, and the LX $95-100k. That would satisfy 3 completely different SUV customers without stealing any market share from the other. I think it boils down to Toyota being in the business of selling as many vehicles as they can, and historically every Land Cruiser imported to the US has sold.

Edit to add: Also keep in mind that Toyota has skipped years importing Land Cruisers to the US as recently as 2012. So it’s not out of the question that the US would miss out on a 2022 LC300, but get the 2023.

That would make sense, before the pandemic they were hesitant, what this pandemic has taught many OEM's is, selling cheap cars don't make money, its a sad truth.

What you mention is the GR, Gazoo Racing, its TRD outside of North America and I believe I saw some spec that it has better suspension, 18" wheels and more sporty interior, we probably will also see a Corolla GR, I hope it'll be as the ones I've seen (6spd, hatch, slight widebody with Yaris GR drivetrain), but we may just end up with a fwd version like a Corolla GTi.

Anyways, back to the LC300, I don't work for Toyota so I have no idea what's their thought, but realistically they should keep LC300 above Sequoia, it' should have same place as G wagon, a 500hp TRD/GR version and charge more, idiots like me will pay for it, I mean a new Grand Wagoneer Obsidian edition is $101k USD, I would've bought a LC200 if they sold them in Canada.

Not the 3.5 HO in the Raptor. It’s 450 hp and 510 tq

that being said, over the past couple years Tundra people have been anti V6TT. while I loved my 5.7 V8 this V6TT Raptor hauls ass. Doesn’t have the V8 growl but it’s not bad.

Yep, brain fart. Meant to say GR.

Maybe a G’d up LX will fill that G-Wagon desire while the LC300 stays true to us utilitarian types.

Yes, the current Sequoia is bigger than a LC, but it’s still lacking in cargo space when the third row is in use. I would love to see an longer XL version similar to Suburban, Yukon XL, and Expedition Max when the 3rd gen debuts for the 2023 model year.

    Sorry for the derail.

I think new one is slightly bigger than Tahoe/yukon but smaller than the suburban/yukon xl.

No it doesn’t. Ecoboost is a little less Hp at 400, but torque is 500lb/ft. And that’s the normal ecoboost, not the high output from the raptor

The UN Spec model is ridiculous. No oil changes, no brake pad changes, and can cross any river, rollover on the road or side of a mountain, and be uprighted and drive home!

Man, I’ve been living under a rock. I didn’t know Toyota had stopped Landcruiser sales here in the US.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    Nope.

    2021 Ford 3.5 EcoBoost makes 400hp @6000 RPM and 500lb-ft @3000 RPM.

I don't think they did the typical EPA cycles, but European cycle they are hitting almost 10L/100km, or 23mpg, but no one can hit EU cycles, they are pure are bs, so reality it's about 19mpg combined for the gas, and probably 23-28mpg for the diesel.

I hope your correct about new Sequoia size. Wife and I are currently pregnant with baby 2 and she is already saying she wants more, if the new Sequoia is Tahoe size that would be perfect for us.

I always thought sales wise that was the other way around. Lx sales eat into LC sales, meaning north America consumers prefer to have the luxury badge.

Sorry if I'm not more clear.

Lexus would like LC300 to be discontinue in North America so they can justify the business case, since LX biggest market is in North America, they are not as commonly sold elsewhere, where LC300 program is easily justified since its a global sales, they are probably averaging 100k units annually and its a high margin program, where LX program is around 10k-15k units annually global, while half of LX sold in the world are sold in North America.

Last year LX sold around 7k units in North America where LC200 sold about 3500-4000 units, so they feel if LC300 don't come, then the LX program will be in the 10k units range, factor in that people are more than happy to pay a premium for the Lexus badge and LX are more likely to be leased vs finance, hence why I mention they don't want LC to eat into LX sales.

Yeah, the current Seq is 2" wider and 10" longer (both wheelbase and overall length) than the LC200. I'm thinking the next gen Seq will be the same compared to the LC300. Maybe with the TNGA-F architecture Toyota can slap a Sequoia body onto the longer Tundra frame to match the domestic XL SUV's. Seems that Toyota is making a big push to take a larger market share in the 1/2 ton truck and jumbo SUV segments. Heck, they sold only ~13k Seq's per year since 2010.

To clarify, the next gen Seq will supposedly match the LC300 for offroad goodies like crawl control and multi-terrain select, but still be wider and longer, more standard passenger and cargo volume. I think Toyota is looking to combine LC and Seq demographics. Seems like a good idea to me, offer four Sequoia trims ranging from the base SR5 with factory full-time 4WD and 4LO (same as the current gen Seq and LC200), cloth seats, a versatile beast that can tow heavy and also good offroad. Then ramp it up to higher trims with offroad capability like the LC300 and a luxury trim.

Was wondering the same. If solid then I think I’d be more interested in the new Sequoia over the Tundra for off roading.
