please no with the stupid 12" screen like that floating like that. just leave it in the dash like Ford and Ram. I dont like the functionality at all in that system, my dad has it in his platinum Highlander. Im afraid we are going to be stuck with that though. if so, I hope its in the dash somehow

also, it looks like they still have all kinds of buttons low and behind the steering wheel, what is Toyotas fascination with putting shit where you cant see it?

Screen may be 12" across but it's super narrow and, as a result, way smaller than the RAM.

Sorry if this was already posted somewhere. Found this video of the new 3.5TT motor direct from Toyota. They also have a video on the 10 speed AT and a few other things if you care to look. As we know the LC and Tundra have shared drivetrains for many years. So, this may be the base motor before the Hybrid or whatever they have up there sleeve is released.

Interior front leg room looks awful. Not a lot of room to stretch like in a the current Tundra.

Raised the bar means they beat everyone. "World beater" is an appropriate term for that. They're claiming it again. I for one am inclined to believe them based on prior evidence. (Not that I think they make the best decisions always; I have received a lot of grief on this board for criticizing Toyota for other reasons). The domestics caught up quickly because the only thing keeping them afloat is trucks and full-size SUVs.

Ford could come out with a 1000-ftlb drivetrain for the F150 that gets 30mpg, and I wouldn't buy it with your money. Their history of issues is too long for me to think that it's all of a sudden proven and I won't have to routinely visit the dealer. Granted, I'm the typical Toyota buyer. Give me the truck, and goodbye. I don't want to darken the door of the dealership ever again.

I have never given up hope for a TTv8 even if all the rumors and unofficial statements from various Toyota employees say otherwise.

I'm sure I am in the minority on this, but I hate the massive screens in cars today. The current screen size in the Tundra is large enough...

It will be world beating in the same sense as the MLB hosts the "World Series". It is world beating if the sample size is other toyota trucks

Nice video. To bad Toyota copied the front end design from the Cadillac Escalade.

Hopefully the bigger screen will keep people from destroying the dash with some bolted on plate to attach cell phones.

Ya I don't like it, I have spent a decent amount of time with it

I also think it would make it harder for those of us that like actual audio systems in there with the floating design and have to replace Toyotas dogshit with aftermarket.

    I guess time will tell

Aftermarket head units are becoming obsolete since factory ones are being integrated with a lot more controls. It’s now in a state of just keep the head unit and replace everything else.

I get it.. I understand, I really do.

I hope you're right and we get our world beater tundra, its on my short list and its not even out yet!! GMC AT4 6.2 and the powerboost are the others. I have a bunch of Tacomas and tundras, I like them, but I just don't think Toyota will "dominate" and "beat the world". unless your talking about ave reliability... Im kinda bitter at the moment on that, I just spent a week without mine while they fixed the fuel pump and ECU when it wouldn't start.

I'll bet you a 6 pack of your favorite beer that says the power numbers are not class leading by the time it comes out

I have been thinking if they are going to go this route, why not just have a doc for an iPad Pro right in that spot, that way you can get a really fast tablet with an actual processor with some power, CarPlay and then when you get to where your going poof, take the iPad with you. or if thats too big, use iPhone like that. then we could use the pure audio out instead of Toyotas JBL horeshit, which sucks a dick a mile long.

all of my JBL crap is laying in pile in my garage somewhere after I replaced everything.

I doubt that. Aftermarket has always been better and they will just figure out a way to incorporate the other stuff, if need be

I wish Toyota would have ditched JBL, but it looks like they aren't, JBL sucks ass.

Unfortunately, you're wrong. I wanted to replace my head unit - but every head unit I researched would cause me to lose all of my Toyota Connected Services - none could incorporate those functions.

I put audio quality above all else so I get I may be wrong on something like that

what Toyota connected services would you lose, specifically that a smartphone cant do?

I would honestly prefer if Toyota just left all that stuff out and lowered the cost of the truck. Just give me push buttons for my climate control and a standard headunit but don’t only offer that in the work truck trim. My 04 Lexus has nav and the maps are so outdated it looks like I’m flying when I go over some new bridges. Costs something like $300 to update the maps. No thanks.

I realize that and I’d replace the head unit in my Chevy since stock sound is terrible, but how it’s connected and the shape of the dash just don’t allow it. A lot of automakers are going towards the raised floating screen so there’s no way to go aftermarket for that. You don’t need an aftermarket head unit to have awesome sound anyways. I’d prefer to, but it isn’t necessary since they have the dsp’s and other things.

That’s the other problem nowadays. Everything is integrated into the dash. Another is Toyota and Lexus headunits look like they’re 20 years old. The difference between my moms 2017 GX460 and my old 04 LS430 headunit is a slight color change and a screen with better pixel density.

If I got a colorado it would be a diesel. But would choose the ranger over that and even the tacoma. The ranger is not a new vehicle and has been proven around the world. The ranger is a great truck except for some stupid things like the rear seat and the bed length...really Ford??

Dashboard doesn’t look very deep. Looks like most of your legs are not under the dashboard. I’m thinking a taller/larger person would like that. No more hitting the dash with shins.

Couple notes. The screen being nice and high keeps your head/eyes up towards the windshield vs the large screens that are more vertical and have you looking down at the floor. Second, I’m thinking with the floating screen, if it needs replaced much easier then tearing the dash apart to get the screen out???
