I notice very little bass from the stereo in the new-to-me 2013 DC. There is a Pioneer Amp under the back driver's side seat in the under seat storage area that is no longer hooked up to any sub.

So, basically looks like I need to get a sub. However, with everything else I need to get for the truck, I'd like to start off with something more simple to get me by for a year or so before going a more expensive better sounding route.

The truck came with a Sony XNV‑660BT after-market Audio/GPS in-dash system. It is a bit of a headache to use, but works for now. I wish the stock Stereo Monitor came with the truck.

See pics for the room left under the seat due to the amp.

What are my options for something around $150 or less to give me a little bass for the time being? I'm not a wiring guy so I'm hoping for something that is close to plug-n-play.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

It looks like it has speaker wire already inserted on the amp, can you confirm it is not connected to any external speakers?

It looks like a GM-A6604. Can you confirm a model number so we can look up specs to see what would work for you?

Appears speaker wire is running behind the back seats ... and assume to speakers?? Not 100% sure.

However, there are wires not hooked up I assume go to a sub? See photo. Thoughts?

Actually. Those thick wires go to power and ground. The RCA cables go into the back of your stereo. And the blue wire needs to be spliced into a remote wire. Right now the amp is plugged into nothing.the speaker wire (wire coming out of the passenger side) may be still connected to some auxillary speakers but it's hard to tell.

So currently. No power is being connected to your amp. And it's not receiving a signal from your head unit.

I had to remove my cargo box from under my back seat but was able to get (2) 10s under there in a custom box. It's not a perfect fit because it has to slide out a tad for the seat to go all tge way down, but not too far where it's out from under the, seat

HHmmmm ... apparently the previous owner took the sub, etc. with him. Currently, the sound is pretty weak. So, I can assume there isn't much power driving the speakers and I'm getting absolutely no bass.

Given I know nothing about how to do this myself, I may need to have someone look into it for me locally. Shoot ... was hoping to keep it simple. But, it is what it is.

    Thanks!

Yeah. Our systems are pretty weak by audio standards. I had the JL under seat 8" and it killed it. But the price was way too high. Definitely check out taco tunes!

I ditched the under seat storage and threw a slim 10" woofer and mono amp under there. Fits snug with the seat down and still have room for other stuff under there. Even with the entune audio package sound was seriously lacking. Eventually plan on throwing a 4 channel amp under the drivers seat and upgrading the door speakers as well.

It looks like the Pioneer amp is connected to your speaker and the cut wires would have gone to an amp/sub setup. Assuming everything is still in-tact on the other end... all you should have to do is connect an amp and sub and you should be ready to rock and roll.

Had my local car audio place look at it. He agreed, JackWagon, hooked up to 4 speakers (Rockford's) currently and used to be hooked up to a separate amp and sub. So, he quoted me $350 to put in a Kicker Comp 10in sub with custom built MDF lid to replace current lid under back seat. This includes re-configuring the current amp to push the speakers and sub optimally.

Thoughts on this suggested config for $ on the cheap?

Oh, he did say he doesn't like the Rockford's speakers at all ... in his opinion. But, I doubt I could do better unless I really wanted to lay down some $$ on the speakers I assume. It just sounds so weak now it isnt' even funny.

350 for an amp, sub, box and re-tuning of both amps? That sounds pretty good in my opinion. Most likely a 10" sub and maybe 250 watt amp for it. That would sound good. now... devils advocate. you could take that 350 and buy whichever sub/amp combo you want.. since all the wires are already there... you just need to connect them. Then tune everything yourself. If you arent a DIY kinda guy, then that would be 350 well spent. Make sure he is giving you best bang for buck on amp and sub for that 350 though.

I may have miss-read. Is the 350 for just the sub/box combo and he would re-tune the current amp to push 4 speakers and subwoofer?

Rockfords and kicker are okay for minimal cash. I wouldn't be too scared to take that deal especially if you're just trying to add a little low end.

I had a 10" kicker sub in a truck box and a 250 watt JL Audio amp stuffed in the back of my old Jeep.. They sounded out-freaking standing for what it was. A small package. If your current amp is only a 4 channel amp then I would look into getting my own amp/sub combo and install it myself. You can get some good combinations for 350. You need to make sure that the 350 bucks from this installer will include an amp, sub and box. If it doesn't... do it all yourself and enjoy a beer with the extra money saved.

I am currently using 2-8" kicker compRT subs and an Orion amp. Well, waiting on my new box to arrive before going through install. These trucks don't leave much room for big bass packages without spending big bucks to get thin stuff. This sub/amp setup was in my last truck in a sealed box and sounded great. My new box will be ported and they should sound so much better. I'll be working out those 8's with about 600 watts. I think i'm going to have to do something about the speakers.

The latter ... $350 for sub/box and re-tune existing amp.

He said he could hookup existing amp to the Sub ... in addition to the 4 speakers.

My concern for this would be whether or not your current amp is 4 or 5 channels. If it is a 4 channel amp then you would be robbing significant power from your (most likely) rear speakers. I've never seen a wiring setup like this before either. now, if it is a 5 channel amp then this is what they are built for. Based off of the wiring you already have I would think that the current amp is a 4 channel. I would leave that alone and let it power the speakers. I would use the existing cut wiring and grab a new amp/sub. Either go for a powered enclosure or place a new amp next to the old amp and put the enclosure behind the seat. Very very simple to do, especially since the hard work (running the wires) is already completed.

As for powered... something like this may tickle your fancy..

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_953CSA112S/Memphis-Audio-15-CSA112SP.html

    For separated setups...

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_777M3501/Sound-Ordnance-M350-1.html?tp=35834

It really depends upon your level of DIY and how much room you have to work with. Your 350 bucks can go a long way if you do it yourself. Remember to match RMS power as closely as you can. Good Luck

Will an enclosure fit behind the 13' DC rear seats? I like the Pioneer enclose ... Looks nice and slim. But if the powered sub enclosure use easier, I'd go that route to. I simply have no clue about wiring and timing this kind of stuff.

Since I am in the truck audio mood I will interject what "I" would do with your money... I would trim the under seat storage to keep the smaller side and remove the larger. I would move the current amp to behind the rear seats. I would mount the new amp behind the rear seats as well and go with the below setup. This will be about $500 depending on what deals you can find and would set you up with no complaints and a great sounding setup. Keep in mind that all of your wiring is done, so you really only need to plug and play.

Here is a little insight as to what I will be running once my box is received...

I have no idea what to do about the speakers.. Might venture into the 50W RMS range with new 4 channel amp and components/coax. Still undecided.

For some reason I initially thought you had a CC.. You are correct. No behind the seat for a DC. Powered would be the easiest route but you are stuck to what they provide you. The wiring is done, so don't worry about that. When talking speakers and amps you want the RMS wattage to match as closely as they can. This will ensure that the amp is providing the correct amount of power that the subwoofer requires. You are in a good situation because you get to jump right to the fun stuff.. The components of your audio build.

Would the Kicker Hideaway fit behind the rear seat of the 13' DC? I'm thinking it may ... If so, this may be the easy way to go.
    Thoughts?

I seriously doubt it, but I couldn't tell you for sure because I have not inspected mine yet. I know amps are small enough.

In the event I go the diy route, can anyone point me to step by step directions on:

    1. Accessing behind rear seat backs in 2013 DC?
    2. Options for installing audio equip in that area?
    3. Anything else that can help a newbie with dyi audio installation in the tundra, etc?

I figure, if I can purchase the items, install them, and then let the pro tune it all for me once everything is in place. But I need some ideas oh my options and how to access the areas.

    Thanks food any help.
