New wheels or spacers?

Well, I fix one thing and it created another problem. Not a huge one yet but nonetheless an issue. I'm apparently going wheel shopping or spacer shopping (which I don't really like the idea of spacers). It doesn't need much but it does need addressed. I suppose for a little while a 1/2 spacer isn't horrible. What do y'all think? WWFGTD?

 

Spacers are fine, if you buy a reputable set. But, wheels are more better.

 

If that's your only clearance issue a 1/4" spacer and some longer wheel studs is all you'll need.

If you want more frame clearance, then the standard 1.25" bolt on spacers will work for OEM wheels. Aftermarket wheels may take 3/4" or 1" spacers if they have pockets for the extra stud length that extends past the spacer.

 

New wheels all day long! Just figure out the proper backspacing and the offset. When you do this I could make up for the amount of space and wheel spacer will give you. Maybe will benefit from -.20 to -.40mm offset.

 

Are we hub centric or wheel centric with these trucks? I really don't wanna go down the rabbit hole again. Forgot it all. I'll probably end up at custom offsets doing my research and with a new set of wheels. Now I just need recommendations as I've never bought wheels

 

Many people run spacers or adapters. I never liked the idea so I would go wheels, but spacers as a temporary and more immediate solution I would do.

What is the verdinct on the 255 approach?
I am buying an 05 tomorrow, and am hoping that my 255s will roll themselves off the 06 tacoma and take their new home on the tundra.. flingers crossed..


and, without having backspace/offset specs, the rims are either old landcruiser rims, or fj rims, which do kick the tire out a good bit... I'll update the post with the verdict when I take possession of the truck..

I needed spacers for 265/70r17s on '07 FJ Cruiser wheels. 1 1/4" Spidertrax from Summit. Been on my truck for 3 years with no issues.

 

New wheels it is! Spidertrax will make me rub something fierce @1.25. Any recommendations on brands good or bad? And I don't really wanna bmc/CMC if I don't have to

 

I run BORA 1” spacers. Studs poke out about 1/8” past spacer on rears but no worries with pockets on wheels. Same quality as Spidertrax. BORA also makes 0.75” spacers, but stud trimming might be needed.

 

Thanks! I looked all horas seem to be on back order. Now I'm looking to figure out what works wheel offset wise so I can not rub and not rub the tire on the spindle
