Looking at used/new Tundras and noticed decent price differential on Work Truck/SR models (not SR5) and curious if they reduced sound deadener at all on interior or cheapened out in other places on the SR. Any SR owners or people really familiar with them that can attest to road noise difference. Would be my primary truck and it appears can buy a new one for the price of a used SR5, etc.

My biggest issue with them is the smaller tank but for the price differential can put in a transferflow 46 gallon once warranty expires and still come out way ahead

Do not believe they reduced sound deadener, but the SR is the budget model with fewer features. Tundra's dont have great sound deadener anyway, ton of folks add more especially when they do any work to the stereo system, which also sucks.

If you plan to modify the truck a SR can be a great fit, as you will be swapping in what you like to make it yours.

I bought a SR, new no regrets. I wanted double cab 4x4 5.7 and I’m not big on options. The plus is only has 4x4 emblem, which I plasti dipped and no chrome!

Sound deaden material is the same for all models tundra. Sr is the way to go if you do not mind buying parts and making it your own. Just order trd pro headlights, foglights, intermediated wiper switch, color match grill surround and bulge and you are good to go. Great thing about SR is no CHROME DELETE is needed...everything is black (interiors, side mirrors, door handles, front and rear bumpers are black). BAD thing about SR is no key FOB. That can be solved by installing Compustar..now I have 3 miles remote start and alarm system with 2 way remote. Also get SR model with vinyl seats...you will not regret it...feels like leather without maintenance of leather.

This is as much sound insulation as any of the trims of a double cab have... it's appalling to say the least
    [IMG]

Mine is a SR5 SX package, so I also had the baby tank, which was swapped out with a Long Range America 46 gallon tank.

Biggest difference I know is the fuel tank. SR's/bench seat tundra's have 26 gallon tank as opposed to the 38 gallon tank.

Sorry, now see it in your original post!

SR with fabric seats you get keyless entry.

Truck looks awesome! What fender flares are those? It was hard for me to find an SR in black with vinyl seats.

Thanks! The fender flares are the Bushwackers OEM type.

I think the big one that was alluded to above is that the SR doesn't have intermittent windshield wipers.

Forgot to come back here and say thank you to everyone for their input. Ended up getting a new 2021 DC 4WD SR in early May.

    Edit: Add SR

Nice! Enjoy the truck. I had a 2019 SR that I modded quite a bit, flipped it for a 2021 SR5 because I got a great offer on my 2019 and wanted the 38 gallon fuel tank. It was a great truck.

Love my SR. I believe the only differences between it and the SR5 are minor convenience options such as fog lights, more wiper settings, slightly smaller touch screen, etc.

    Sweet!
I love mine too and really prefer the already de-chromed overall build of them for sure!

17E4D8C0-F740-4121-BA92-2E3BA1751493.jpg You won’t regret it I got my SR new back in 18 out the door for 29 and then built it the way I wanted. When it was finished I was still thousands under the SR5 model. I’ve never bought a vehicle loaded out with everything there’s a lot of stuff on them I wouldn’t use and can’t see spending 7-8 thousand more for just one or two options I like when it’s cheaper to add what I’ll use. Some of my favorite add ons were the intermittent wipers (a must) oem under seat storage box and the drivers side handle. I’ve always changed tires on every truck I’ve had to mud terrains because oem tires are always too small and not aggressive enough for me.
Good luck on setting yours up.
