Counting on you for good research and write up. Never been to MOAB and one of my to-do's. Would love to do so dispersed camping while out there too. So please research that too while you're at it :p

Thats all that's out there is dispersed camping! I'm gonna do as much as I can in 3.5 days. I've been to the slot canyons and the parks out there but never has a truck that wasn't stock with me and loaded down with screaming girls. It's just me and my son on this trek

Sweet. In your case, you have a RTT, I don't. So my options for camping are a little different. So when yo are out there if you see spots for tents, jot them down for me. Hook a brother up! LOL

Long Canyon, Bull Canyon, 7 Mile Rim, Fins and Things, Gold Bar Rim, Gemini Bridges, Mill Creek, Porcupine Rim, Pin hook Valley

Maybes: Kane Creek, Hell's Revenge if you have a spotter on Hell's Gate, stay off the escalator obstacle, Wipe Out Hill, Illinois Gulch

Stay off: Rusty Nail, Poison Spyder Mesa, Area BFE, Behind the Rocks, Pritchet Canyon, Moab Rim (might be able to, but...), Golden Spike, Metal Masher, Flat Iron Mesa, Cliff Hangar, Steel Bender, Upper Helldorado, Green Day, Minor Threat.

If the trail name says anything about metal, spikes/nails, hell, or threat....you might reconsider.

Moab has something for every rig/person. The real question is...what truck are you driving on the trails?

Got it. Depending on whether you have sliders or not, some of these may not be for you. Also if you're going by the Moab Backroads & 4WD Trails book, some of the ratings are over rated (and subjective).

My recommendations are Fins & Things, Hells Revenge (take bypass for Escalator, stay out of the hot tubs...and optional on Hell's gate...mostly a mental mindfuck but not terribly difficult with longer wheelbase rigs), 7 Mile Rim, Dome Plateau (really simple but nice features and awesome lookouts), Lockhart Canyon & optionally Lockhart Basin, White Rim, Bull Canyon, Colorado River Overlook, and Hidden Canyon Overlook (as long as it's not raining). You could probably get away with doing Top of the World too as long as you take the loop counter clockwise, but there are some decent drops that you'll probably drag rear bumper on.

    I'm going with a decently-sized variety group of Toyotas May 5-10: 6 or 7 4Runners, a FJ Cruiser, 1-2 Tacomas, a Land Cruiser, and possible a 2nd Tundra (@TRON, you better come!)

The trails the guys want to do are: Kane Creek (I think we're just camping here though), Hell's Revenge, Chicken Corners, Lockhart Basin, and Top of the World. Other than Hell's, are the rest challenging enough? I don't want to drive all the way from San Diego just to go on trails that are too easy.

I don't have lockers yet but I'll have my 40" tires on by then to add on top of my supercharger, 7" lift, sliders, skids, front bumper, and chopped rear corners (for clearance). I also have a 12k winch; going to bring 2 spare CV axles, too. As most know of me, I'm more than willing to push my rig and abuse it. I'm definitely going to at least attempt whatever comes our way.

Yeah, having a plan as to where to camp is a good idea. I was in Moab with a buddy in 2001. We just pitched the tent in what looked like a good place after dark. We woke up surrounded by cows, whoops! Moab is freakin awesome! One of these days I'll get out there again.

    Oh one or two.

I think out of those trails Kane will be your only issue. With the long wheel base and no locker with loose rocks it might be hard climbing the only real hard obstacle. And some major pin stripes but the others should be good without lockers. MOAB has tons of traction don't let the slick rock name fool you it's like driving on sand paper most of the time.

Weird, I always have good reception with AT&T in Moab.

He might have turned in for a fun filled wheeling trip tomorrow.

On the other hand, he could need some help. @FlashCulprit to the rescue!!!

It's the opposite side of the river everyone looses reception on. haha But, after the whole Aron Rolston thing they threw in a bunch more in all the high traffic areas.

Psshhh you think I got 7 hours to drive down there? Oh wait... It's @Almaboy ? I'M ON MY WAY BUDDY!

Seven hours? Shoot, I could almost beat you towing my Jeep (7-8 hours) depending on fuel stops.

Now I have reception! My ass has been puckered most of the day. 6 hours to do 7 Mile rim. I wasn't looking for something that tough but only a few battle scars. A couple bumper hits and some hitch drags. If I got out of there with suspension fully intact I'll be happy. The only real ctastrophe was a tree that ripped my rhino rack off but I was able to fix on the fly with minor scrapes on the roof. I wouldn't do that trail again in my truck.

As @jberry813 described hells gate as "a "mental mindfuck" that's about how I felt on a few of the crux sections not because they were hard but because I didn't want to tear up my truck
