This is pretty damn awesome. Great work. I thought about doing this to my 2008 at one point, but my wife would have killed me. I'm glad to see someone did.

You already alluded to it, but I am 99% sure that upgrading to the dual zone auto-AC will solve your AC problems. You'll need to do a combination of the Gen 2 Auto-AC swap and using Gen 3 parts for the "amplifier" and the controls, but you've already proven you can figure that shit out. I did the upgrade from manual to auto-AC in my 2008 SR5 and the biggest thing was that I had to add the extra servo AND the wiring harness for all of the servos in order to not have the unit reset every time it was shut off (which had been the issue that everyone prior to that had with that swap). The servo didn't actual do anything in my truck because the door it was meant to control on the auto-AC system didn't exist, but the amplifier had to see and operate that servo to make the whole system work correctly.

This is awesome. You are doing exactly what I wanted to. I just don't like the 07-13 dashes, and I didn't know how much trouble it might be to swap. Ya, I've got a '19 CM but a RCSB 14&up looking would be the shit. I want it for my daily. Great job!! One day, I hope to build one.

This is incredible. I will say it is my favorite truck on this forum. Only thing that would make it even better is a manual trans.

Some people say that their truck is "built not bought" you actually did it. I wasn't sure how it was going to go in the beginning, but that's impressive.

I think the interior swap is what really brings the whole package together. It was the biggest unknown and took the most amount of time as well. Without it the truck would just feel like it was missing something. (I said the same about the TRD Pro Bed)

I really hope to see more 3rd Gen interior swaps into 2nd gen trucks in the future. I have even offered to make a few guys a plug and play harnesses for the Cluster and AC controls. I guess more importantly we don't have to guess or wonder if the dash swap is even possible. I gambled a little but totally worth it.

Oh trust me my girlfriend has been more than patient with me while building this. I had the front clip and bed delivered to her work because they had a forklift. She had a big part in helping me pull this off. If I had kids/a family this would have been almost impossible, at least in this time frame.

I will swap in the digital dual AC I am just not in a hurry to pull the dash all apart again... yet. I studied the HVAC box under the dash extensively. The small CAN system to run the servos is cool but also delicate and hard to modify. I tired to take and extra Blue Cap Driver side servo and wire it into the harness. Now when I changed the temp I had 2 blue drive servos that would move. I needed the second one to operate in opposite polarity because the passenger side temp door is on the other side of the HVAC box. I never could get the extra servo to rotate in the opposite direction to work right and kinda gave up in it.

Interesting, yet not surprising that the Auto AC has an extra servo and that is the fix to keep it from resetting the temp. Any idea what kind of door/flap this extra servo controls? What is its purpose? I will get this all swapped in the near future it looks much better and can all be done in a day.

    Thanks for the info

Not sure if this will work for you but my 08 crew max and my buddies 2020 crew max have interchangeable front door panels. Meaning you might be able to find a set to match the dash. The window switches are or should be direct plug and play according to another post on this site

Yes the Double Cab and Crewmax trucks the door panels are a direct swap.

If you look closely you will see the regular cab door is significantly bigger/longer than the crewmax or doublecab doors. This was to help allow access to the storage area behind the seats. When Toyota put out the 2014 update, they cut production of the short bed regular cab. The long bed SR edition was all that was offered really. It seems Toyota didn't care to invest money in updating the regular cab door panels so they just kept using the old style ones in the new trucks until the regular cab was cut from production completely in 2018.

Long story short I think I am stuck with the style of door panel I have now as their is no newer option. I would love to be wrong about this however.

Thanks for sharing your hard work. Great planning and incredible execution. I think overpaying for the front clip and bed was worth it considering they were in the right color and a full respray would have been in the $3k+ range anyways. From the pictures the color match looks great. Excited to see what you do next!

I can be a little OCD so before it is over I will shell out another $2-$3k for a new white paint job to make it all match nicely. It is good enough to drive for now but does have some minor chips ect.

I think I want to enjoy it for a little while before getting carried away on the next big steps.

I saw you posted on one of the Tundra FB groups, there's another guy there that did the exterior swap on a 4x4 5.7 RC and resprayed to cement and a bunch of other mods. Its a sweet truck. I can see how it would be easy to get carried away.

Edit: realized i saved a pic of it

Yea I am in most of the Facebook groups. Ironically I almost bought that cement grey one over a year ago it was for sale in San Antonio. A guy down in Corpus Christi has it and he and I are pretty good friends now. I am going to help him do his interior/dash swap next. He wants more of an offroad/lift TRD Pro look. We talked that maybe one day we can get both out trucks together for a photo shoot. Two RCSB TRD Pro trucks at the same time, one lowered, one lifted.

This is what it looked like in the forsale ad but has had some serious upgrades from the new owner. He just got it back from the paint shop and is finalizing the bed swap, installing taillights ect. I think very soon he will be starting on the interior.

I'd really like to hear more about the Sequoia diff lock and 4x4 ecu swap. Can't believe I haven't heard of this possibility before. Seems like it'd be a highly sought after mod for those that wheel their Tundras.
