Hypertech Interceptor or UniChip with G-Tek Fab Stock Air Box Mod Kit

Hey guys I'm going to install the G-Tek Fab air box mod and I wanted to see what the general thoughts were. I was looking at adding either the Hypertech Interceptor or the UniChip, if I went for the UniChip should I order it for the cold air kit or the drop in filter and I do have a K&N drop in filter now. Thanks for any of your input.

 

Pmedic, I installed mine and are seeing 1-2 mpg, stock filter. Our Tundras already have a cai, but the Sabm is for guys who are going up in tire size. I'm very pleased with mine and for a lot less then aftermarket cai. It's been dyno tested. From what i've read on here, the chip is a waste, but the hypertech is a good buy. Hope this helps

 

Thanks rons23 it does help, I went up to a 295-70-18 Terra Grappler M2 tire and lost about 2-3 mpg. I was hoping between the air box mod and hypertech I would get it back and a little more power.

 

Yes I would think, I'm going up to that tire size also. Let me know what you think of sabm.

Are you taking into account the tire size difference when your calculating your MPG? The larger tire will travel further than OEM.

275/65/18 vs 295/70/18 = 6.8% difference
That turns 300mi a tank into 320mi.
Divided by 18.5 when the light usually comes on gives you a full 1mpg more than not taking into account tire size.

 

Yes, I did take that into account and also the fact of the tire being a wider A/T tire having more contact with the road.

 

A lot of people forget to take that into account, just making sure
