Indeed. But from what I’ve read the Tremor F250’s are getting 15-ish combined. I can’t believe that’s much worse than what people get once they lift their Tundras to an equivalent height and put 35’s on it.

Hell that's better than what I get now! Yeah it will go down as one of the good Ford motors. The Ford chassis are/is very good so this combo is high on my list for the next truck. It's the electrical side of Ford that causes doubt with me. An the cheap ass parts spec. Just issues you know before going in. Have to weigh the pros and cons of every vehicle. No perfect one out there.

This was a decent thread but it's moving into the keyboard dick measuring contest thread.
Let's all agree to agree sometimes and disagree sometimes.
Life is way to short to raise BP and stress levels over this crap.

Its still a great thread, Toyota has been messing with us, and some people get impatient and sometimes drift a bit off topic. I certainly agree that Ford bashing was probably not the best way to deal with the problem of getting some of the answers we have all been patiently waiting for.

My high school ride was the same thing! Well it was white but still. Wonder if any manufacturers will ever bring back interior styling from back then? Who could forget those beautiful all gold, blue, or red interiors.

Someone did post that Toyota was working on the frame. Not sure how that got the information. :monocle:

Im at the point of “I’ll believe it when I see it”. I’m done with all these it’s coming next week, it’s coming in the super bowl, etc. Toyota has worn the red carpet out.

The NYC Auto show is in August. I just got an email for my press passes. The Toyota engineers have always been easy to talk to. I will definitely work on getting some info. The thing that's in my favor is I'm not the press. I get access to pre show to talk with auto manufacturer engineers about new safety systems and how they pertain to vehicle extraction. Maybe this will work in my favor.

I’m definitely going to consider a 2022. I have a 2016 that I like, but my wife wants something more comfortable and with leather and I want 4x4 and better mpg. I’ll see what Toyota (finally) comes out with. Otherwise I’m looking at the F150 hybrid. My 2016 has been rock solid except for a Bluetooth gremlin, until now. This warning light came on so it’s at the dealer now. I’ll be pissed if I have to spend a bunch of money fixing it when I know I’ll be trading it in a few months. :/

I will strongly consider it after I see what they offer and will only buy when there are at least five on the lot at every dealer in my area. Enough of the price gouging.

I just read another teaser article on the motortrend site, they were interviewing Bob Carter (Executive VP, Sales for Toyota N.A.)

    From the article;

"He hesitated to give us more details on the truck, but said we should get all the information in September."

The article mentioned two powertrains, with the base engine being "a core powertrain that's substantially more powerful in terms of horsepower and torque than the current V-8."

If they add in the perceived HP of a battery / motor augmentation, I'm writing them off.

    start writing then...

Its clearly what's going to happen at least on the hybrid model. and I get it, why not, it does add power.

me personally, would rather have a 6.2 iForce V8, but the V8 is gone, its pretty apparent.

I also doubt Toyota would offer something as cool as the built in generator like Ford Powerboost, that is a cool feature that at least if you cant get a V8 makes it easier to swallow since you get a really nice truck feature.

for some reason, Im starting to lose interest in this new tundra for now. Maybe its a combo of the delay in details and also the chip shortage which really won't allow to buy a new truck anyway for probably quite some time, at least for me, Im not paying MSRP for a new tundra, no thanks, Ill keep what I have under that scenario I don't care what it has.

I'm betting the aftermarket "forced induction" boys are going to see quite an increase in sales going into next year.
People need to understand that this "Hybrid" thing is crossover till they find something else for power delivery as they know all electrics will not work for thirty years at least.
How about this, 3 liter liquid cooled turbo charged two stroke inline six. (aluminum)
    30 mpg and 900 HP.
If they wanted to do they could.
We are being led down roads that are not in the best interests of the buyers.
Soon people will find out how much of the "Global warming" thing has been total BS.
They even changed the name now because it's a like.

Why get back on topic when we are having so much fun bashing other brands and the owners of those products based on a less that .5% catastrophic failure rate for any of them?

Shit talking is way more fun!

I would like to submit my thoughts on Dodge/Ram products. I think they all need to be renamed, to better reflect their owners.

For example the Dodge Dart, shall be renamed the Dodge Meth. That way the owners can legitimately claim to spend all their money on something called meth.

How about the Dodge Challenger being renamed the Dodge Jorts, like Jean shorts because dude who buy Challengers also wear Jean shorts? The Hellcat could be the Mullet, giving the Jort owner (and wearer) something to aspire to.

Ram trucks also need some help. The Ram 1500/2500/3500 is a lame name. So what about Ram Domestic Violence?

Let the old lady know that if she doesn’t shut the fuck up about you tailgating the car ahead, that you’ve got your pimp hand ready to strike in the old Ram Domestic Violence. Unless she wants to show off some new bruises and make up some new stories to tell the neighbors at the trailer park, she better simmer down and start complimenting your new tattoo and Affliction t-shirt.

If it weren't for the crazy ass tuck prices and lack of inventory they'd lose a ton of potential buyers to other brands waiting till Sept to fully reveal.

On topic I don’t expect much out of Toyota on the new Tundra to be honest. Toyota was extremely reluctant to enter the full size pick up truck market to begin with, and I don’t think they’re particularly enthusiastic about it even now in Japan despite Toyota NA lobbying.

Tundra is a limited market vehicle that has always had slow sales compared to the rest of the market segment, and other than reliability doesn’t have much to tout after about 2012. Toyota saw no need to make improvements 5 years into production, or even 14 years in.

Considering the latest press release for the warmed over half assed “new” products on 6/2/21, and what we know about the Land Cruiser 300 I expect the following:

1.) Mid pack power numbers for the 1/2 ton segments’ volume engines. Probably more power than the GM 5.3L, maybe a smidge more than the Ram 5.7, but not as much as the GM 6.2L or top Ford 3.5L EB. We might see equivalent torque to the Ford 3.5L EB but I doubt it will be higher.

Any ratings falling in that range will quality as “significantly higher” than the current 5.7L 3UR-FE. Toyota can tart it up however they want to, but it won’t be the same as the 5.7L in 2007 cock smacking every other 1/2 ton across the face. The 6/2/21 release shows Toyota has a very low bar to call a power increase “significant”. Plus the Land Cruiser 300 leaked docs show a very mid-pack 3.5L TT engine.

Don’t be surprised if throttle response is programmed heavily to favor fuel economy. Add in a big dose to torque management in lower gears, so we can also enjoy nice flat response until traction control and the transmission give us permission to enjoy all the power.

2.) We’re getting a 10 speed transmission. Hate to say it, but I think Toyota will probably screw this one up. It will be programmed to hunt for maximum fuel economy all the time, so expect reluctant downshifts and all manner of shifting logic fuckery (see above about torque management).

3.) Smaller fuel tank. Prediction based on Land Cruiser 300. They’ll take away fuel capacity because “oh look it gets 24mpg highway now”. I’m already used to the pathetic 26.4 gallon tank on my 2007 that wants to keep 6 gallons in reserve to cool the fuel pump. If Toyota does that stupid shit again, I’m going to be disappointed. I don’t give a fuck if it gets 30mpg.

4.) We’re not getting factory lockers on any of the axles, at least not as an option for the TRD Off-road package. Maybe the Pro. So keep enjoying that stupid auto lsd brake modulated nonsense on the current truck.

5.) We probably will still get stuck with a pants on head retarded oil filter housing covered by a skid plate. Fuck you Toyota.

6.) Coil spring rear suspension. I’m actually glad because it will ride better.

7.) Payload and towing will increase a little, but will not be class leading.

8.) At some point we’ll get a hybrid. It will cost too much and also be mid-pack with no real advantage power wise vs the Ford. The Ford will probably have neater features like the ability to power a camper or your house.

For the record I hope I am wrong and that Toyota blows it out of the water. Problem is they’ve fucked up every major new release for the past decade, so not expecting much.

I sure hope you're wrong, but I bet you're not far off.

I think this is why I stated that Im starting to lose interest a touch. I think our expectations are getting too high, thats all this wait is doing.

I dont think Toyota will deliver a class leading truck in anything but reliability, as nice is that is though.

its tough to lead in this class, the others just move way too fast for Toyota. I just hope they can deliver some quality and functionality this time. better materials, storage, and not stupid shit like all the buttons buried behind the steering wheel low down that I cant see, mismatched materials all over, etc. The top trim prices are way too high for that kinda shit now, reliability or no reliability (speaking to top trims).

This made me laugh man, plus remember all those tests where the tundra 5.7 SMOKED the Ford 5.4 at the time, it was just that, a smacking BIG time.

but now the GM 6.2 is and has been faster than the tundra loaded vs the tundra empty, kinda smack there too.

not that I care about racing but it shows powertrain is stout.

I bought a 2015 Mustang when they redid the mustang and had weird issues. I wouldn't buy a first year vehicle again but maybe Toyota would do a better job
