Tensioner is a bit of a chore, but might as well only bust your knuckles ones

Dropped my truck off at the mechanic this morning for it's inspection. Then ran 6 miles at 80° to breakfast which just so happens to be a brewery.

3 beers, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, bacon, sausage, homefries, and toast later I'm ready for a nap.

As I go over this truck and assess what needs prioritized for replacement and/or upgrading I'm at a point of indecision on the exhaust manifold/headers. I have the ability to purchase a set of the Thorley shorties or purchase a set of stockers. Since I'm only interested in getting rid of the common leak the stockers get and minimizing installation headaches, can anyone give me a good, sound reason to go with the Thorley's?

Damn it! Missed my god-daughter’s graduation party yesterday. I’m forgetting everything lately. I don’t know if it’s from age or living under the power lines here.

Yes, I briefly read some posts from some not-so-happy DT customers (mostly Cali) and don't let that dissuade me from purchasing them since they are a quality product but it's the O2 sensor location/angle on one side that has me questioning whether the DT's are worth it. I wouldn't want to have to yank a header off a 1st gen just to access an O2 sensor that has gone bad. That's why I was leaning toward staying with stockers and building up the welds where they're known to be weak before installation. I doubt I'll ever have to pull them again once I put them on.

Mostly what I had absorbed; was the cranky fakas from back east weren’t happy that the flanges rusted and weren’t SS like the tubing was. But maybe that’s a isolated issue with 4runner/tundra. So proceed on since we don’t get squat for moisture out here; sometimes I just mist the truck to make it seem like we got a lil teaser thunderstorm......

That could be a big problem if you lived back here & it wasn't made clear pre-purchase.

Interesting, I hadn't read anything about that, and like you say, we don't get squat for moisture so that's a non-issue if I choose them. I could cut the O2 bung out and relocate it to a more accessible area since I do like the product otherwise.

Just a lot of work, by all means they are a great add on, just be willing to pay or have welding and patience skills.....

if you want full benefits of long tubes, you basically need custome exhaust the entire way back and in a certain configuration.
I’m still toying with......reducers to get some more back pressure

Yes, but what I had read is that Cali customers were left holding the bag on their purchase of them because they weren't CARB-compliant when DT's site (allegedly) said otherwise.

Parked next to the kind of overlander who I'd love to have a beer with and ask lots of questions.

I think 3.75" give or take. I'm really curious what he's using that for. Initially I thought maybe he's a landscaper and uses it to transport smaller trees, but the zippered windows don't make a lot of sense then.

Yeah he parked like a dick. At least it was on the outskirts of the lot but I don't see a reason to park that way.
