Hey guys im new to the forum and just bougt a 2009 tundra 4wd with 240k. I have a bad vibration at all speed, but gets worse the faster you go. I have already done the u joints and carrier support bearing. I have also put new tires on. I went to my dudes shop and we checked the brakes and wheel bearings and they are all good. I just removed the drive shaft and dropped it off to make sure its balanced correctly. If this doesnt work, im dont know were to look next. Do you guys have any suggestions. I will thank all ahead of time.

where do you feel the vibration, steering/front end or in your butt as you drive? Have you confirmed that there are no bent wheels?

The vibration fells like its coming from the back end of the truck, but you feel it through the seat. Only at higher speeds do you feel a little come through the wheel, like 50 plus

I had them check rims when they put new tires on yesterday and they said they looked good and balanced with no problems. New tires, didn't make it any difference better or worse.

What info did PO pass along to you?

You have checked the usual suspects. Wheel trueness, balance, bearings and anything that spins can cause vibrations. Can get vibrations if the front or rear of the truck is not aligned- the suspension and tires fight with each other and you can feel that. Bent frame can be the same, cause the suspension to fight itself. Driveshaft could be it, and hope that is the case.

any noises? Does it vibrate the same when if you put the truck in neutral when running down the road- so coasting with no power to the drivetrain or only under load or engine braking?

other than that, bad rear end or pinion bearing can cause it but they often make some noise too. Pinion bearing may or may not make noise. As can a trans with some internal issues.

Truck has clean car fax and my father use to own a body shop so i have a pretty good idea of what to look for with frame and all looks good. I did try what you said and have put vehicle in nuetral when driving and vibration is still there, so im thinking tranny not the issue. If balanced drive shaft doesnt fix it, ill have the pinion bearing and rear end looked at. When i was at my friends shop we did put truck on lift and didn't hear or see anything. We even put truck in forward and all looked ok.

It sounds like you are well beyond my skill/experience level on vehicles. So apologies if this is too rudimentary, but years ago I chased a similar issue. Made me crazy. Turned out after much investigation I had a tire that went bad. Belt separation issue. An alert tech noticed something no one else had. How they said it balanced on their machine earlier, I have no idea. But that’s what I ended up being told and the problem went away with a new tire.

I hoped it would just be the tires, but same vibration with old tires as with the new tires. That for the response. Every little bit helps and you can start eliminating what its not.
