I am leasing my Tundra. The lease ends this month. I am going to buy the truck and plan on keeping for a while as I really like it.

Just for the heck of it I reached out to Vroom and Carvana and got online offers from them. Vroom was the highest, at roughly 8k over my end of lease buyout price....

KBB says my 07 is worth over 18k, and carvana says 11k. I bet I could get a whole lot more though.

On a goof got both Carvana and CarMax quotes. I bought my truck used in early March.
Carvana was $44,181 and CarMax $48,200.

I bought my 2020 platinum in June of 2020 for 47,500 OTD . I just traded it in for 58,000 on a 2021 expedition for my wife . Almost $11,000 for less than a year of ownership. I’ll drive the RAV4 until things calm down and get another Tundra or 4runner.

Finally got my hands on a 2020 TRDOR at $45k after chasing 2021s to no luck. Traded in my 4R for WAY more than I owed on it. What a wild market. I feel like we got lucky... can't wait to pull the Airstream around the country in the new beast. :)

I didnt bother ordering a ‘21. MEET TUNDRA #8! I found this ‘21 Platinum (the black one) at a dealer here in Ohio…their only new Tundra. I was given $3k more than the total I had invested in my ‘19, including the sales tax. Yes, I paid MSRP for the ‘21 but I was able to trade up 2 years for a total out of pocket of $5766. BTW, the ‘21 was loaded to the gills and stickered for $3466 more than my ‘19. So I essentially moved up 2 years for only $2300. These are crazy times. The salesman said “back in the day” trading a 2 year old $53k Tundra on a new $57k Tundra would have been close to $10k out of pocket plus tax.

Checking the used market daily and I don’t see any movement with trucks priced so ridiculously high. It’s most driven by dealers competing for inventory, not generated by actual sales. The chip shortage is unprecedented to the car dealer industry, even the most profitable dealer will not survive. According to Autonews, this crisis is estimated to last until 2023...

Interesting comment about car dealership survivablity.... As I think about it their service may survive, and they may just evolve into a place to to take delivery of a new vehicle after the "deal" is taken directly with the manufacturer....

I kinda looks like it does but may be an optical illusion. I was standing more in front of the old one so I was a little closer to it which may have caused that effect. I am pretty sure they are the same height as they are both bone stock with the same tires.

Yeah this market is nuts but there’s still deals out there if you dig hard enough. I was going to order a 21 TRD Pro at MSRP from one of the NorCal dealers but I ended up finding a 2020 TRD Pro with 9900 miles, window tint, ARE CX HD Truck Cap, Method Grid Wheels, and Mickey Thompson Baja ATZP3s for 57k. (Not including TTL). Basically a bunch of stuff I was going to buy anyways.

Expensive? Yeah. But nothing compared to the 66k everyone in SoCal was trying to charge me. Also I didn’t lose any time waiting for a vehicle I kinda needed right now with where I’m at in life. Definitely trying to make this my one-and-done truck for the next 10-15 years and run it into the ground.

Seems like I was right on time buying my 2018 CRMX TRD Sport. Found it with 8700 miles on it and bought it for 39k dollars.

This thread was crazy to read through.
