Are we on the same project???

Speaking of that, Project managers who really aren't project managers who act like PMs when in reality doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground. When we try to help the guy get through it he gets all puffed up. I got a bet that he's a short guy with that complex. (no offence to short guys without that complex).

I know what you're talking about, but the PM on this project is a good guy, and seems like a good PM. He's the third PM, apparently inheriting it with a short budget and a short schedule. I feel sorry for him because I have been in his shoes before. I'm dreading him asking for me to stay longer. I'm the kind of guy who wants to help, but I REALLY don't want to be away from home any longer. The only parts of the team dragging us down are the original design engineering firm, who continues to earn their bad reputation, and the manufacturer rep from the turbine manufacturer, whose laziness or incompetence (not sure which yet) made me post what I did.

When you're riding passenger and the driver starts an unnecessary conversation where you're not included with someone over Bluetooth. Sooo awkward and it interrupts the stereo!

When somebody from work sends an email out on Saturday at 8pm inviting me to do some testing on Sunday morning and expects it to be done by noon.

So many things wrong with that.

This is why my work phone and computer are shut off at the end of my last shift and not looked at until the next morning and or during my days off at all. I become unreachable. My manager knows how to reach me but the world better be ending if he's going to do so.

I get angry (and disappointed) at myself when I don't go with my gut and knowledge about certain decisions. Latest example? Since 2010 I have had a perfectly well-functioning HP laptop that I removed all the bloatware and other crap in the registry from upon purchasing. Yesterday I decided to install Windows "updates" that didn't go well at all and for about 2 hours I didn't believe it was going to restart and when it did it altered the function and look of it in a negative way. I restored it to an earlier time and that was that. No more Windows updates. What was I thinking? Grrr!

No, Windows 7 Home Edition on this one because that's all it has ever needed for its usage. It has been flawless for 11 years. I should have left it alone...lol.

I liked Windows 7 but I started having some problems with it so I upgraded to 10. I hate the auto update.

When my wife asks me "what do you want for lunch?"

I respond "I will have the left over pizza, thanks."

Ten minutes later I came down stairs and there is a bowl of stir fried rice, only it isn't rice, its cauliflower. Not only more effort than throwing the pizza in the little oven, but I will be hungry again in an hour.

When people get unnecessarily added into a process.

In the past if a project I'm working on is below a cost threshold, I was allowed to just do it. Next cost threshold up I need executive approval which is fine. Next tier from there needs "Governance Approval" which includes thoughtfully filling out a cost benefit analysis form. No biggie, its usually easy and from there I get the nod from Mount Olympus.

Today I learned that I have to send my CBA and supporting documents to some other team for a review, go back and forth with them on details, and if I'm lucky they'll give me the nod to take it to Mount Olympus for an approval.

I feel like telling them if they don't agree with a CBA, either they should write the CBA themselves or they can tell the line of business that they don't agree with the savings claims. Middlemen aren't beneficial here at all, they're just delaying and driving the cost of business up.

This drives me crazy too. We have one guy at work that will flip his shit if someone isn't doing something for him "correctly" and will then call EVERY OTHER person in the office to bitch about it and get them involved when in reality that person is handling it just fine, he just got his panties in a wad.

He also likes to call everyone in the office to talk shit about everyone else behind their backs, including the owner of the company. He's super fun to work with.

You make a trip for work. You put in the expenses as you're told. Auditors dick around for 2 weeks before looking at it. Send it back because a receipt image is blurry but they don't tell you they sent it back. 3 weeks later you check things and see it's still pending. Take another photo and resubmit it, 2 weeks later they look at it again and submit it to manager for approval THEN when he approves it they wait another 2 weeks to process. Now AMEX is charging late fees. I'll be damn if I'm paying that shit.

It was great when my previous company started automatically approving certain expenses.
