My friend had an original Maverick back in high school. He was always going to the local carpet store to pickup of discontinued carpet samples to cover the rust holes in the floor boards. Of course he neglected the passenger side and if it was raining, my shoes would be wet by the time we got to school. Too funny. But to be fair, my other friend had a Dodge Dart..I think his dad ordered it new with the "pre rusted front fender" option just to get it over with. Man what pieces of crap they were selling back in the "good old days".

As for this vehicle....seems like it might take away from Ranger sales. And no doubt it will be at least a hybrid if not full EV.

Back in college I drove a Chevy Luv 4x4 (rebadged Isuzu). Neat little truck that delivered me 25 on the highway in 2WD but also provided good traction in the snow. Was perfect for my 70 mile commute to the U of MN back in the mid 80's. What was not perfect was that in certain cool humid conditions the carb would ice over and the engine quit. I just had to pull over wait 5-6 minute for the ice to melt. Looked just like this picture!

My grandfather drove a Ford Courier back in the 80's. I would kill for a little truck like that so my Tundra could rest during the week. I'm really hoping this ignites another compact truck war.

I had a Maverick as my first car and it was actually a great car. Little 200ci inline six that would win races every time against Chevy 305, 307v8. I used to tear up the Chevys on broad street in Richmond Va where we used to all hang out and cruise.

I had the Maverick Grabber in orange.

I still cringe and say wtf every time I see one of those. There are at least 3 in my neighborhood, maybe its for profiling people who I would never befriend.

I guess when you're not allowed to make cars, you have to get creative with your truck design and marketing.

Before I clicked your link, I thought you were referring to the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Looks like these manufacturers are trying to create another segment to compete in.

Honestly, at this rate, I'm surprised Ford hasn't brought back the El Camino.

That has to be the most useless camo wrap I’ve ever seen. You can clearly make all the details out; why bother?

Well, Ford couldn't, because the El Camino was a GM (Chevrolet) product.... Ford had the glorious Ranchero!

Maybe that's the point? Spark interest from the public and it's not like their competitors can do anything before this gets released.

Could be! Make it just camo’d enough to bring out the cameras and it’s basically free publicity. :monocle:

Ahh! Good point! Honestly, at this rate with how people are saying the Supra is a BMW, who knows. These companies either copy each other or collaborate, nothing's original.

The Supra is a BMW that identifies as a Toyota. We try not to judge but we all know it's German.

Okay I admit I am judging and maybe harshly, but only because I'm disappointed knowing what it could have been of it were a Toyota.

The hippies in that pic are on point with the market they are going for with something like this.

You definitely aint gonna see Jim the stucco guy or Hector the roofer in one of these.
