I drove through there a few times and noticed in the upper western parts of the State that they used coarse grinded asphalt on hills and bridges. Never saw much salt until getting into Pennsyltucky. My ruts began to grow rust immediately.

Never heard of it. I can tell you the Gates HD weighs almost double the regular duty Continental Belt. Stout indeed.

The Gatorback belts were discontinued a while ago. They're now sold as Continental Elite belts. I never used the Continental but the Gatorback belts were excellent.

That coarse grit likely had salt and sand mixed in it. That causes all sorts of other issues with drainage both inside buildings and outside, not to mention you end up with blasted wheel wheels.

Looks like they didn't do much of anything. Just toe set.

Are you lifted, if so how much? Pics of cam positions?

Finally crawled up under the cab and broke loose the turnbuckle and nut. I now have an emergency brake that works. Now this weekend, pull the rear wheels and take a look at the brakes. They definitely need adjusting.

Thanks to Professional Hand Model for the guidance on this in another thread.

Trailer brake controller came in... get er installed tomorrow.

checked over the truck too to make sure all is good. Other than the front diff bushing I STILL haven’t done and the slip joint in the rear drive shaft has the slightest bit of play, she seems ready for a 10 hour round trip with 6,000ish lbs in tow

We get snow in the northern part of the state, and thankfully they use “cinders”
There’s lot of volcanic activity up north and so they basically use some byproduct of the volcanic rock and sling that on the road for traction; 2 world peese points for recycling material and not using chemicals that get into the flora and fauna and water supply

    Yea no you got heat.

Alaska was great when I was there for 8 months back out of high school. But other than that. Montana/Wyoming would likely be where I’d be willing to go

Hmmm...now that you mention it I see. Guess I don't know that the cams are froze or not, but it doesn't matter (for now at least).

We get ours from a machine that dispenses it. We don't drink the tap water here in our home. I suspect most of the tap water comes from the Colorado River and its tributaries but you may be surprised to learn that Arizona actually has vast amounts of water contrary to popular belief. It's underground.

Had an ink pen blow yesterday and got on the center hump carpet. Went into emergency feather duster mode. Blotted it up and spread it around more.

Grabbed some Denatured Alcohol and a microfiber and worked it out like magic. I should market this shtuff.

To renew registration in California, a smog cert is required every other year, along with of course your Cali-inflated payment. On the light side of that, the smog shop (upon passing the test) sends the results electronically to the dmv, and within 24 hours you can complete registration online, so no need to visit dmv hell in person. We don’t have overall vehicle inspections per say, but if you’re driving with a taillight out, cracked windshield, draggin a bumper, whatever, you get pulled over by the man and are issued what they call a “fixit ticket”. You then have X amount of days to make the repair and go to any law enforcement station (highway patrol, sheriffs, etc.) and after they verify the repair, they sign off the ticket. All said and done, $10

I’ve never heard of this, and I’ve always lived in Southern California. Don’t know how that’s possible, as DMV is ran as a statewide department of the government.

I only learned of it last year. If you have an address in Julian, CA you don't have to get smog testing completed. Same goes for Borrego Springs. I don't think you can just get a PO box there, it has to be a residence. There are other cities as well but it is hard to find on the internet. From what I've seen if you live in a rural enough place and there aren't test facilities you get a waiver.

Ive heard of this being the case in Julian and other areas, whats funny to me though is that Julian and Borrego Springs arent all that rural at all. But I guess they just got lucky!

I know, and Julian does have a smog check spot but they're still exempt. I wish I had a friend there.

Ordered these the other night just because they were $7 a pair. Took about 20 minutes.
I made it easy by removing the Latch Half from the window for the post removal. Added some lube for the install slippage.

Meh, I think they're rural by California standards. Less populated and spaced out. You occasionally have to "go to town" to stock up, which means the closest city with a supermarket. Living (especially growing up) in these type of towns is definitely different than somewhere urban like Temecula or Vista. I discovered a lot when I grew up and made friends outside of my town.
