In an effort to clean the bugs off my truck, I used a kitchen sponge with a teflon scrubber. No problem with the windshield. However, when I used the scrubber on the headlights, it left scratches! I used a 3M Headlight Restore kit to get about 80% out. Why does Toyota use such soft plastic for their headlamps? Considering how much they cost to replace, you would think they would be bullet proof!

I've never needed anything more than the wash mit and soap and water to gets bugs off the truck, sucks for you guys. Of curse, I never let bugs sit on it longer than a day, even if I'm just washing them off without washing the whole truck. When I lived in Louisiana, I had to clean love bugs off daily

This scrubber is teflon. Not steel wool.

I once saw a guy use a green scrub pad to get tree sap off his new tacoma's paint. He's a smart guy, just had a dumb moment I guess.

Being a dick, especially to someone who at least has the balls to come forward saying he's messed up, and what not to do takes a lot.
If jackass wants to be a dick, and he's new here (like he was) how's he going to be in the long run?

I could be accused of taking things too lightly, but I thought since the OP said to learn from his mistake, being called out for doing something dumb wasn't a big deal.

But I try not to take anything too serious, especially from behind screens (who am i kidding? I don't take ANYTHING serious.). Our sarcasms and inflections get lost in the text.

I'm probably also biased since I know the dude and he's been a standup contributor in other places, so take my feedback with a grain of salt (and no seriousness )

Every time I wash the truck I go, clean and wax the headlights. I have no issue with them at all. They look really new, Tundra Shinny.jpg but not faded. Just a matter of cleaning. But then I wash every other week and wax every other month. Truck has over 218,600 miles in it already. Headlights look clear and transparent. Not new, but pretty clear considering it is 10 years old.

Sux brother at least you got most of it polished out. The windshield can scratch too so be careful.

Goo gone on a rag or sponge works well for bugs.

I took it he was saying it was the OP's fault and not Toyota....which is what the OP stated in the thread title "my mistake", but then passed the blame to Toyota

I have talked with osidepunker a few times, don't judge him by this thread. We all have bad days, and say the wrong thing to the wrong person.

One thing to understand that this place is not TundraTalk. That is a good thing, and bad at times.....

A lot more discussion than I expected. Learned not to use kitchen sponges on my truck. If this post keeps one of our members from doing the same, then it served its purpose. (Kind of what I thought this forum was for - sharing ideas, experiences, successes, and mistakes.)
