2007 + 3" Tundra Leaf Conversion - By Savage Fabrication Intro Pricing in first post

wtf? Where you get skid? My shit has a dent.

 

I have a "Long Range America" tank and they welded the skid on when I bought it. It's beefy for sure.

 

No one will weld a skid on mine... It says "Do not weld" on it. I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I would ideally like something that will hold up the truck, but I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Ok, the beginning of this thread it was referenced that a F-150 has 3" wide leaf springs. They hold up better than our narrower springs.

Why not make a hanger that can use the F-150 spring? There has to be more available options just by how many of those are on the road?

you can order the leafs from Deaver, and there is a shop in AZ or here in social where i can get you the leaf mounts for the frame, and i have a few more sets of the frame side bushings left. if you are interested let me know.

Any of these 3" conversion kits still available?...looking to do this instead of i96 since its a waste of money now that I know about this option lol

 

I never got any info back since I last last pm’d about it maybe 2 years ago or so. Supposedly still around and doable, only main purpose of it is to handle way more weight than a regular daily tundra will carry is what I last read somewhere in here.

I’ll most likely go with the i96 route myself, only carry a spare, jack, ground tent and camp essentials. No rack no rooftop stuff

 

It wasn't just to handle more weight, it was to handle what you just mentioned as well and not go flat over a year or two.

 

Unless I spend some time to get a whole different custom 3" rates... i don't want to imagine driving some times with no weight in the bed and that V420... probably more bizarre than a 10" block under the leafs. I'll deal with the re-arch or new sets in two years or so.

 

I’ve been using my truck to load stuff for work lately so it’s completely empty. Not even a spare tire. And I’m probably the lightest truck out of everyone here. It didn’t even cross my mind that I was riding around empty til I read this.

 

And you have the v420 conversion on ur truck?

 

Anyone know how to get ahold of papasmurf at his shop? I looked around online and I dont see any savage fabrication except for a different outfit by the same name that is not him, from what I can tell. Just trying to see what's up w this conversion kit if hell still make me one or if I should go elsewhere. Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

I drive around empty all the time. Surprisingly, the ride is better than stock. The I96 will save you money but no one that has the 420s has suggested going back to 2.25" leafs.

The way it works is you order the 3” leafs from Deaver. That’s been the hold up, people thinking they’re waiting for Bruce when the time consuming aspect is getting the 3” leafs made.

 

All I have read since subbed was more of weight this and weight that no one never reported back with the vice versa and THANK YOU for doing that and proving me wrong then!

 

So im about to order my leafs like today and I'm sourcing bypasses...will 16" 3.0 fox 4 tube bypasses with piggyback res. Work and fit and have acceptable.clearances everywhere w the 3" leaf conversion??... I thought I read somewhere that you have to clock the tubes in a specific way and they're already a tight fit w I96 so with the 3" inch leaf conversion will that make that a no go or something like that?. Found a good deal on the shocks mentioned above but I don't want to buy them if they're not going to clearance everything required. Any thoughts or experience?

FWIW, I'm running Fox 3 tubes w/remote resi. I'm pretty certain you won't have a problem.

 

3.0s or 2.5s tho? Its not the 4 tube layout or the 3.0 im worried about but more of both of them together seems like it might cause a jam up
Also, ur talking ote resi and this is piggyback so thats even MORE of a hindrance. Like 3.0 with 4 tubes and piggyback with the 3" leaf conversion. Seems like a lot to stuff in there right?

No bed cage specifically in mind i was just gonna drive from Sacramento down to socal area and have one fabbed up by someone...maybe u? I was thinking along w picking up glass bedsides and other shit it should be about the same with saving on shipping for various parts as the gas money to get there. Does it make a difference what bed cage?...or like if I have a cage fabbed up can any shock be made to work?

 

honestly the easiest is camburg bed cage, but really anyone should work.
