Whoa whoa whoa. That's only in the big cities. No checks where I live. For inspections they literally check horns, lights, brakes, and parking brake. And any major damage.

I took my 91 SHO up there and after 2 people came and looked at it, they came back and passed it. Didn't pull it in or drive it. They didn't want to admit nobody could drive stick so they passed it!

I had that happen with my old taco. The kid walked out to get in and went right back in and some old guy came out and took over. Kids these days...

The only one redeeming quality to MA over CA is that after 15 years of vehicle age, emissions testing is no longer required. That's why I now reset the "check engine" light for my downstream O2 sensor 5 minutes before I drive to get it inspected.

It urps me to no end that our hole in the wall podunk county does not have veh inspection. It would at the least cause 90% of the population to finally get their turn signals fixed :frusty:

    That's how we roll.
The only inspection I've ever endured was a VIN check when I bought a car out of state. The BMV person walked with me out to the car, looked at the VIN (in one location only) and confirmed it against the title. Back in for title and plates and I was on my way.

We are up in the world in regards to yearly registration….lay on couch and order yearly sticker on line….no inspection of any kind required. Yearssss ago in another MS county, gave the ole man at Mom and Pops inspection station an extra Hamilton and he overlooked almost everything :amen:

thank you, just ordered the belt from Amazon, same part number as you.

Going to try and just replace the pulley and not the bracket, for the tensioner. Going to go to the dealer and talk to the parts guy, and see whats what. I see they changed the design and it’s smaller now based on some research.

After having changed both LBJs and inner/outer rods on both side, I finally got it together to get new tires and an alignment. I was surprised that my control arm cams were not frozen!

There are some cities on California that don't do smog checks as well. If its a rural town it isn't required. I wouldn't mind registering my GTI in one and going big turbo.

Last time I was at a tire shop they asked me to pull my car out. They guy acted like they needed a spotter and didn't have one but the truth was he couldn't drive manual.

Well, doesn't that mean if you got the belt job done at Toyota 2 years ago you may be eligible?

@empty_lord if you're able to explain how this works can you please shed some light here? My belt was done maybe 5 years ago so I'm way out. Mine does squeal on cold starts though.

I didn't mean to imply that the TSB was covered, only that it contains the solution to stop the cold squeal (A/C mounts and new idler).

Cam bolts on these trucks are notorious for getting rusted and stuck in colder climates.

I didn’t do the new A/C Mounts with the New Tensioner Design, although I have read/knew about it. Rolled the dice.

My cold morning chirp (until warm up) was from the Fan Bracket Pulley, I believe. Old one was grindy/crunchy when removed and inspected. Seen’t it on a review.

Squeal could be serp belt which I had a few years back and a new Belt eliminated.

Anyhoo you’ll be Golden with all the new parts.

Maryland is a HORRIBLE state for weather. In the winter it snows a foot at a time, and even when it doesn't they salt the roads whenever the forecast calls for snow...just in case. Then they close the schools, and everyone runs to the stores to hoard bread and milk.

After a week or two of nice Spring weather (which we've just finished) the temperature jumps into the 90s every day, with 100% humidity. Tornadoes and water spouts occur every few years (in between the hurricanes).

I can't help that I live here for now, but I'm very glad I won't have to lay under my truck with a sawzall during one of those nice 90 degree days!

Yeah. I called bs on this phenomena when I went to have 4w Place put on some new Shocks. They called and said the Cams Bolts were frozen and can’t do a proper alignment so the cost was going to be huge. Me on the phone.:rofl:

Told them to button it up and I’ll hold off on the shocks until saving up for the total redo. Guy knocked 40% off the frozen cams price since it was on the rack and I still didn’t bite. Sure enough the guy was right after readings here.

The folks at another Tundra site swear that the Goodyear Gatorback serpentine belt solves the problem all by itself.
