Don't we all do a lousy job at meets in your eyes? And you probably think your the only job out there and like an early quit on Fridays. But yeah there are some that are button pushers and there are some that actually play chess. ;)

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Only job or train out there? No.

Do I have a far better understanding of how long it takes for a train at one point to get to another? Yes.

My number one complaint is dispatchers that seem to not understand or learn their territory and how long it actually takes to go A to B to C named point, control point, cross over etc going a given direction and accounting for what the train is.

Stopping a 19,000 ton loaded coal train on the side of a hill to meet another train, is frustrating enough. To then have DS tells us where it is, and I know for a fact we would have made it across single track with that load before the opposing train even got an approach medium signal is even more frustrating.

Then the carrier wants to bitch about fuel consumption. Yeah OK, totally my fault I had to stop on a hill and then take off again at full throttle for 20 minutes to get back up to speed with 3-4 locomotives sucking down 200 gallons/hour each.

Then there is the ever enthralling follow some underpowered trash for 100 miles on the same main, on multiple main track with nothing on the other main. What do they do, dock your pay if you use a crossover once in awhile?

Totally understand your frustration. And agree with all your arguments, I can say I don't work for the big RR. I work for the one on the East Coast in Fl. And we have some in our office that can't connect the dots on train meets. It irritates me to to no end.

    LOL

You walk in to the DS center get to your desk for turnover and your incompetent prior shift DS says something like: “Well everything is good!” as they tap dance their happy ass out of there.

Then you sit down to your subdivision in total meltdown: relief crews not ordered, trains dying all over the place, maintenance of the way in the way... and your radio tone up indicator blinking like a Christmas tree. Probably some furious CAD’s or emails from some dipshit officials about some stupid ass issue the good idea fairy put in their heads.

On a good day, I browse this forum for 12 hours.

A bad day... I try to locate the fan(s) sh*t has hit based on the splatter. Then I ruin people's days, nights, weekends, and holidays by telling them that their fan was hit by the sh*t and they have to fix it so people's phones can stream porn and you-twit-face garbage.
