I assume you are talking about the seat base and how you can raise and lower the front and back sections of the bottom cushion? My thoughts are: 1) Wouldn’t that make it feel like you’re always sliding forward off the seat? 2) If I raised the rear of the lower cushion 5 seconds, I would be way too high up in the cab for my liking.

Yes that’s correct, the seat base.
I shouldn’t of said 5 sec, its more like 5 clicks which i equated to a sec. You get the point though, so long as it’s tilting forward.

I don’t have any issues sliding, you don’t want the tilt to be dramatic, just enough so it’s not causing the lower back to be the point where everything flows to.

I might give this a try and see how it feels even though I must admit it sounds kind of silly to flatten it out and have less of a bucket position

Haha i totally agree but desperate times called for desperate measures.

Only sense i could make of it was that bucket seat created a V position where all blood flow was concentrated in lower back and became stagnate which was causing my lower back issues.

The change of a slight tilt forward allowed the blood to flow back down to legs. Keep in mind im 6’3 & i experienced no sliding issue, perhaps cause my legs are so long that it created a stable base.

Give it a try, it might work for you, just gotta find the right tilt suitable for you.

    Best,

That's odd. I went the exact opposite direction. Couldn't get comfortable because the seat felt too flat or tilted down in front. Felt like I was sliding off the front and had to brace myself on the dead pedal and knee on the door. Installed the 1" seat jackers in front, and run the seat all the way down in back and all the way up in front + 1" from the seat jackers and it dramatically improved the comfort. No more sliding off the front and no more bracing in turns (although stiffer suspension and sway bars may have something to do with that also).
I came from an E55 and those seats had a gagillion-way adjustability and active bolsters, plus a very down and in feeling, so the Tundra was a big change, but I got it figured out now and love the seating position and comfort. They are a tad firm, but as I get older I think that actually helps.

Well, I'm 6'1" and 250, so not exactly small, but I agree, everyone has to find their own "just right" position.

See this is how I have my seat. Butt all the way down, thighs all the way up, and headrest backwards

If I were to do something to the seats it would adding some kind of lift to increase the range of adjustment. These:
    https://desertdoesit.com/collections/comfort/products/tundra-front-seat-jackers
    https://desertdoesit.com/collections/comfort/products/rear-seat-jackers-toyota-tundra

I want the seat base as high as possible in order to get some thigh support. I'm currently maxed out. In addition I'd like a little tilt back in the seat base so I don't need to brace myself at all - doing so causes leg strain and pain.

With this lift kit (front and back) I think the provided controls would be adequate. It's akin to adding a 20 MOA base to your scope! You gain adjustment that would otherwise be unused since you're no longer at the very edge of your nominal range.

Decided to order a set, in fact. My son runs them in his Tacoma and they are very high quality. (The seats in the Taco are FAR worse, no height adjust at all, no lumbar. "Tacoma doesn't fit you, you fit Tacoma", they say...)

Love the front seats but totally hate the back seat in my 2017 -1794. I wished they moved forward and reclined for long hauls like the old Tundra's. If you love the truck but hate the seats have someone change the padding or recover but don't go to Chevy, Ford, Dodge or Nissan........ a month from now you will be griping about everything else! Just my thoughts

Yep, those are what I was talking about. Made all the difference! A little pricy but totally worth it.

I wish the seats had more side bolstering. I’m not a huge guy, 5’11 & 180, but I feel like I’m constantly sliding left to right in the thing.

My seats are just so damn hard that my ass goes numb from lack of any real cushion there?
I am baffled really why they would make them like this?

Luckily I guess I am out of gas anyway by the time I need to walk around for a minute so maybe they just designed it this way too?!?

I have in the past just used washers and/or strut sections and bolted them in to raise the front or rear of seats as needed and it takes a lot more experimenting than you would think to get any real improvement too but the strangest thing I observe is how little change makes such a huge difference in the way it feels!

I find my Tacoma and 4Runner seats to be far more comfortable than the Tundra
    Me too
This is the way I look at it. With only a 26gal tank, I’m stopping to refuel often enough to get out and realign my body.

Gonna try this! If this works, you have made my day, sir! Cannot stand the angled down headrests

I HATE my Limited seats. TTTTOTALY hate them currently. Stiff, don’t hug me (like park bench) and headrest is KILLING my neck! Hopefully, I can figure this out and resolve the issue. Coming from sport luxury and luxury seats so maybe spoiled?

    Will try this! Thanks!

I have a Limited and gas up and drive 7 hours straight from Connecticut to northern Maine....non stop and feel great when I hop out of the truck. I always take my wallet out of my back pocket when I leave because that will eventually bother me if I don’t.
I guess everybody is different when it come to what is comfortable.

Simplistic Genius!!! Just did this! Soooooo much better...haha.

Also, just bought a set of used seat jackers so, hopefully, will make the seats MUCH more enjoyable :)

Ok - so is a thread I actually have expertise in, and have done the recon work for.

Any seat cushion with the cutout for your tail bone area should do the trick. The best one I have found is the Miracle Bamboo cushion. Folks will write this one off because it’s an “as seen on TV” item - but it works.

I don’t do road trips because I’m usually starting to hurt and get bitchy an hour in, unless I have one of those cushions. It’s not a total cure, but it’s damn close. Link below:

I'll jump in here because I almost sold my 2019 TRD Pro a month after buying it due to the seats. I'm in a pretty good place now. I'm 6'2" 200 lbs. Long in the legs and arms.

    Here's what I did:
    - adust seat more upright (hands below shoulder when on steering wheel, and elbows at roughly 30°)
    - installed cloth cloth seat covers (keep me from sliding around)
    - purchased the thinnest seat cushion from Amazon (I tried probably 5 variations -- seat, lower back, upper back, etc). Simple, thin is the winner for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T5FGB63/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_F0MG2Z05RHXHNWE55HVB?_encoding=UTF8
    - stiffened the suspension (this inadvertently made the ride more comfy when adding a few leafs in the rear spring pack for tow/haul to reduce sag because it helped eliminate sway, which in turn stops your back from constantly flexing as it tried to keep you upright.)

Just my two cents. It's not perfect, but I did just drive 2000 miles and was happy considering the distance.

Thanks! We are just about identical in size...haha. Will have to try that out. Just ordered the memory foam ;)

Yeah, I have decided to install the TRD sway bar kit which should help a lot since I am pretty sure my Limited TRD Off-Road doesn’t have a rear sway bar. Will definitely look into rear stiffening/support before I start towing.

    Too many, but not enough....
I find my cloth seats comfortable, but i have the manual seats and the angle on the seat is alittle too low. There is some spacers that they sell, i forget the website but I will be trying them. They raise the front of the seats like an inch or so, seems like it would be the perfect amount.

Good to know, or not I guess, that it took that long for your tailbone pain to go away. I slipped in Feb and my tailbone still huts, and just like you said, hard to get out of a chair sometimes, ha. So I'm only 4 months in, an was starting to wonder wth. Hope this goes away soon.

Everyone has different preferences. I hate the seats on my 2020 Platinum. Sure, the leather may be of high quality but the seats themselves suck. Too plush--not enough support. Too wide--not enough side bolstering. Just can't get comfortable in them. The lower trim Tundras I've set in have firmer seats, which I tend to prefer.

Brilliant! Tell me this though...how'd you take the seat apart? I'd like to do the same to mine to look inside and see what might could be changed.

Are you sure about that? I thought the Platinum and 1794 seats (heated and cooled) had different cushions and innerds.

I may have cracked it. Nothing to be done about that though so didn't bother with an xray. It was a long time before i was right.

UPDATE on the seat issue---eventually had enough miles on them that i could tolerate it. Traded this past December for a Sequoia (old style Tundra seats still in those) and after a brief adjustment period i'm much more comfortable.
