I've recently joined the Tundra club with my new to me 2011 Crew Max TRD Limited. Since my purchase I've been busy sourcing a couple items. And yes I will post a newby link soon. I just wanted a decent picture first. Sadly I washed it but the touchless carwash I usually go to left this crappy soapy film all over so I'll need to hand wash it so I can take a pict for the that post.

Anyway the first thing I did was install the RedArc trailer brake.



I haven't had the time to get the trailer to adjust the hitch for that yet. But that's coming up.

 

For the last month I’ve been tracking down and ordering parts. Alpine iLX-F309, Maestro Rr, KAC-001, Uniden BearTracker 885, External Speaker, PA Speaker, new antenna and mount.

The last week has been cutting, chopping and grinding. Yesterday was wrestling the install.



When I purchased the Tundra the Nav head unit was broken so figuring out what I wanted was a huge headache. But I sorted it out and here is what it looks. I have to say I'm pretty happy with the results. In one location I now have Music, backup camera, GPS, Switch Controller, CB, Police/Fire/Ambulance/DOT scanner and NOAA weather. I'm trying to minimize the data clutter everyone seems to have. But most importantly I now have music while I drive.

Got the stock bumpers pulled off and the new ones mounted up, mounted the front last Thursday, and did the rear this morning. Still need to hook up the lighting but they are on and looking good.
Next up is to get rid of more chrome, going to paint the grill matte black and the Toyota emblem in the grill in the Timberland Mica to match the body. Then will plasti-dip all the chrome badges. Possibly the Iforce as well. Not really digging the red

 

Looks good! I should’ve done an off-road rear bumper when I replaced mine with another stock.

How was removing the front bumper. I’ve been considering taking mine off to replace the front valance piece that is beat up.

 

It wasn't too bad, I had a small fender bender a week or so ago, so I pretty much had to rip it all off anyways. I watched a couple YouTube videos, pretty much only takes a 10mm, and a 12mm to remove the chrome, bumper pad, and the plastic under the front. Then you need a 14 and 18 to pull of the factory bumper and spacers that take the majority of impact

 

Finally installed the Compustar remote start system. Took a whole day figuring things out, wiring, and wrapping to make it look OEM. The system cranks, but doesn't start. I might need to program it. We'll see. The door lock/ unlock works like champ. Loving the range!

 

Have you looked into 12v Solutions at all? I got mine and was up and running in 40min using my factory key fob. I hated the range, I pretty much could only start the truck from about 50 yards, so I upgraded to cell phone module (another 30min) and now can start my truck from pretty much anywhere.

 

Yes. Too expensive, IMO. I know it's paying for convenience with a plug and play system. The Compustar w/ Drone mobile option only cost me around $200 with the Blade AL.

 

Oh damn, yeah 12v is up there in price. Im just not all that great with electronucs. Well good luck with getting that dialed in

 

Where did you get the water pump? I’m due for one. Got a leak at 67k miles.

 

Got the remote start figured out. I had to flash the "brain" module then program it. Remote start works like a charm! DIY write up coming soon!!!

Nice. I've been wanting to take out the Tekonsha and get a RedArc. Tired of the bulky controller.

 

Stevenson West in Denver. I bought an extended bumper to bumper warranty when I got the truck, so I have work done there under the warranty. I'm trying to break anything that can be broken during those 50k miles... Been going there for 20+ years with various trucks. They also have an excellent online parts department, so you can get basically any OEM part you need. If you can't find something online, call them, their parts guys are pros, and can help you find basically anything you need.

 

Dropped my spare to check pressure. Was sitting at 25 psi. Aired up and reinstalled

 

Drove it home…. 500 miles from Lake Tahoe. Now it needs a good wash since it is covered in bug guts

Finally got my Apple Carplay working, I had to order a different carlinkit adapter than I had mentioned before, so here's the one that works with the Teyes android head unit I purchased. It works wireless and wired.

I also have some other mods I neglected to share when I got them installed:
Rhino Rack Tracks for future roof rack, about $300 installed by line-x. These are better than yakima tracks due to the ability to mount things inside the tracks without having to take end caps off like the yakima.


Rear view mirror camera w/ front camera as well. This thing is so awesome and would highly recommend, especially if you have a camper shell. The camera is mounted inside the frame of my rear access door. Cool features about the mirror unit are that it has gps capability for monitoring speed (I don't use it though), parking monitor so it will start recording if someone hits your car (needs to be hard wired so you're not draining the battery via cig lighter socket), accident recording via g force monitor (parking monitor works same way), and more. I leave it on recording while driving anyway, and it does record for both front and rear cameras. Don't worry about the bad angle currently showing for the reverse camera, it needs adjusting. The rear camera field of view is bigger than what the mirror can show, but you can adjust this by moving it up and down via swiping with your finger on the mirror itself. So basically I can make it show straight behind me like what you would normally see out of a regular rear view mirror, as well as adjust it to look much closer and down like some of you would see from the reverse camera in the factory tailgate handle reverse cam.

NOTE: The kit does come w/ wiring for the camera but I needed to order an extension cable for it. I also got the hardwire kit that was part of the free gifts you could choose from after purchasing the mirror. Additionally, the stock mirror is too wide for the Toguard unit to mount to, I went to autozone and picked up the smallest replacement rear view mirror they had for about $14.

Got my Morimoto LED headlights installed

 

1st oil change and tire rotation in 10 mos. Also lubed the driveline. And touched up the underside with Fluid Film.

 

I really like that setup. Which bumper is that?

 

Installed the Hewitt-Tech Gen-II SAIS Bypass Kit with the Pressure Sensor Option (PSO) Have been driving it for a day now with no codes popping up.
I have to say they really do have great customer service and say they will stand behind their product for as long as I own the truck. Very happy so far!

 

Hooke Road steel front and rear bumpers with LED lights on Amazon. $1100 for both!

 

I was curious about the Hooke Road setups, looks like a good deal. Please update on how they hold up.

 

Had them on for 3 months so far and they seem legit. Hooked up the bumper LED lights to the OEM fog light wires, so that I'm able to utilize the fog light switch.

Left side: All my beach towels, leash and board mat for my stand up board.

Right side: miscellaneous bungee cords, small bumper foam for hanging the SUP out the back and not scratching it against shell. The black bag contains various utensils, cutting board and hand towels for the random road trip break.
