Hey thats just part of getting old.... I hope.

This has been really good. Some of these cars I remember, I completely forgot about the Eagle 4x4 wagons! My friends parents had one when I was in elementary, we liked low riders and jokingly called it a high rider. Now I wonder how capable and cool those were. Her dad sticks out in my memory too, he was like a dirty biker guy but didn't have a bike. He worked for the phone company and climbed up the poles.

It was exactly like this 1984-amc-eagle.jpg

We had one of those vans but ours was a early 80's model that I drove after I turned 16 in 1986. I loved that thing, kind of a MGM color, oversized AT tires on aluminum rims, and best of all, a 460.

You’re probably not alone there :anonymous:

My best friend’s dad worked for the phone company too. He was a stoner hippie who drove a ‘74 Cutlass 442 and crawled in manholes to splice fiber optic cables

I remember 4 early ones. An early 60’s 2 door Chevy Corsair and a mid 60’s Ford Country Squire Station wagon, followed next by a 69 Pontiac GTO and a 68 Mustang. We still have the Mustang, wish we had the GTO too.

My dad had a 72 Chevy blazer that was calf shit yellow with a white hard top. It had a small v8 with 4 on the floor. When I got old enough to drive I and a few buddies would crowd inside and take it four wheelin in the near by hills. He never questioned me why it had branch scrapes down along the sides and mud packed in the wheels. Loved that truck, wish I had it today. My mom had a small Datsun B10 which I accidentally.......umm burned the clutch out of.

I was brought home from the hospital in a circa 1976-8 Toyota wagon like this one but a darker blue from what I remember. That was mom's car. Dad had a Toyota Tercel, year unknown.

    MwyFH9BgAGEPHfqNFz2kTqDLL6cOfcB9bz5bSWjt_a42d548c833e2c1847080cae4e6100decadf65d6.jpg

Dad got rid of the Tercel for a used Chevy Blazer. Same color and wheels as this one.

Mom got an '84 Toyota Camry. But the whole car was the color of the bottom trim.

That was replaced with a '95 Camry. Same color as this one.

Dad's Blazer was replaced with a '95 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition.

Mom's Camry was replaced with a ..... *cough* Prius *cough*. That was replaced with her current car, a Lexus IS200.

Dad's Explored was replaced with a Hyundai Azera. Didn't have to tow dirtbikes any more so no need for an SUV.
He rides his street bikes more than he drives that car.

So I've been a Toyota guy since birth.

the ones of note included a 66 Ford Galaxy 500 2-door with a 390 4bbl and "3 on the three". Later he had a 1980 Chevy C10 Stepside with a 6-foot bed. Tricked it up a bit with Keystone Classic rims and few other things. My mom had a 72 Nova SS 350 for a while.

Dad managed a Limo company so Caddys and Lincolns mostly. My Mom and a long gone stepdad had a 66 Mustang which is exactly why I own Camaros! I remember that car leaving us stranded everywhere. 200 sprint my a$$. I was 12 in 77 when it was new car time and I pleaded Malibu Laguna 350 but nooooo Mom was sucked in by the Ricardo Montaban commercials and bought a Volare wagon with a 225. So slow it was dangerous:turtleride:

Dad had a 76' Ford Elite we dubbed... "Big Blue"
It was the most enormous 2 door ever built. It was longer and wider than our Tundras. The doors were about 6 feet long, weighed 400#'s and you could easily fit 8-12 people in the car, with an additional 6-8 people in the trunk. He would carpool for sports and could take the whole team in one carload. It got a glorious 2-3 mpg. Irony is he sold it for $50 with an unknown amount miles and bought a Subaru Justy.

    Screenshot_20210531-121641.jpg
    (Pic for reference)

The Justy was about 1/5 the size of the Ford, it got 40mpg and he never carpooled again. It only could carry one passenger and a bag in the hatch, before it was over the weight limit. (3 cylinder motor, 12" wheels and 1800# fully loaded)

    Screenshot_20210531-121446.jpg
    (Pic for reference)

Mom drove a yellow 80' Datsun station wagon and took over the carpool.

    Screenshot_20210531-122313.jpg
    (Pic for reference)

Eventually ended up with the Toyota minivan of the mid 80's.
    Screenshot_20210531-121057.jpg

This thing was awesome and family vacations got really good from there on out.

Early 70’s Datsun Bumble Bee. I remember sitting in the back seat of that thing, no seatbelts, waiting in gas lines. I think you could ge gas on certain days depending on the last digit of your license plate.

Growing up my dad drove one of these with steel bumpers and bigger tires. It’s what made me want a Toyota truck.

I have a soft spot for the 72 Monte. In high school best friend got his mom's, that thing had a 454 and posi and the swivel front seats. It was heavy as hell and was seemingly invincible, we even took it off road pretty often. Lots of good memories of that car.

    Previa vans were interesting.
I had one as a demo for a short time back in like 1997 or so.
You had to stop way back from traffic lights because of the upper windshield line was so sloped you couldn’t see them if you got too close. Toyota’s try at cab-over engine bays

Those were pre Previa back before Toyota had model names on all their vehicles. But I know the Previa all to well. My parents upgraded their 80s vans to 90s Previas so the first car I got to drive when I got my license was a 95 Previa S/C. One of the most ridiculous vehicles of all time. Mid engine rear wheel drive, supercharged minivan. Fun as hell to drift, not so good for a 16 year old trying to look cool haha.

Here she is. All my friends called it the spaceship.

My favorite growing up. 1965 VW bus. Parents got it with 5k miles for $2,500. It was the dealer demo.VW.jpg
Winters in Mass. I'd lay down on the floor at the third row seats. There was a tube that let warm air from the engine compartment into the bus.
    Great memories in the VW.
