Anyone running the Eibach stage 2.0 coilovers?

Hey everyone. Just wanting to see how many people are running the Eibach stage 2.0 coilovers kit? I recently installed them. Just have some questions and want to see others experiences with them. after installing mine, it seems that i feel every little thing, even on flat roads. I know its way stiffer than stock (mine is SR5 only). i did add 34inch tires around the same time.

My setup is:
Set to 2.5 in front, with rear is 1.5 with deaver progressive pack added to stock leaf packs on 295/70r18 falken wild peaks.

How do you like the ride quality?

Been off-roading with them yet? If so how did it perform?

How long have you had them?

What is yours set at?

yeah ive been searching about them, which is one of the reason why i bought them. I guess im looking for more of a specific answer to a question that I haven't asked yet, but still wanted to see how many people were running them.

I installed them at the preset height. Havent measured since settling (partly because I've had issues getting my +2 shackles installed). I had the stock black SR5 shocks before these. To me the ride feels very similar to the stock shocks on normal driving. I drive over some vicious railroad tracks daily. Stock shocks were jarring and very bouncy. The Eibach 2.0s make the tracks fun to go over. I've been hitting them faster and faster. Wheels stay planted and truck goes over them in a smooth arch instead of feeling like riding a bucking bronco.

 

I've been running this setup for about 9K miles now. Preset front height (2") and Coachbuilder +1 shackles for the rear. Still very happy with the suspension.
I've done some mild off-roading, more like very unkept forest service roads, so slow and bumpy, and the suspension just soaks it up.
Also some high speed shenanigans on the beach and it handled great there too.

As far as harshness or feeling every little bump, I haven't noticed anything like that. Its definitely firmer than stock suspension but nothing like what you describe.
Maybe your tire pressure, or maybe the leaf packs are the difference?
What tire pressure are you running?

 

how long did it take yours to settle would you say? ive probably got only about 200 miles on mine. thats awesome though. i did notice that im way more planted on the ground for sure.

 

hmmmm. i did have the shop adjust them pass the preset setting to 2.5. maybe i need to jack it up and double check what they did. My tire pressure usually hovers around 38 - 41 i would say last i checked. it may be the rear leafs, but it seems more on the front from the way it feels.

 

Your air pressure sounds about right, certainly not too high for that tire size, so you can probably rule that out.
Could be that the Wildpeaks are just firmer than the tires they replaced, coupled with the firmer suspension, and its a new feel that you just need to get used to.

As far as the height your coilovers are set to, I wouldn't think that would make a noticeable difference in the feel of the ride, as long as you're within the designated height range. Preload on coilovers doesn't usually result in stiffer spring rates. Many will argue with that, but its been debunked by suspension companies numerous times. If you maxed out the range and then added spacers on top then you may start causing issues, but an extra .5" shouldn't make a substantial/noticeable difference in feel.
In fact, my driver's side is .25" higher than the passenger side to cancel out the Tundra lean, and no ill effects or difference in feel.

I assume you got an alignment after install as well? Could be your settings are not optimal for the new ride height.
You want max caster for a more stable steering feel. Not enough caster can make the truck feel weird over bumps.
Do you happen to have your alignment spec sheet?

 

yeah i probably need to double check them. i did ask him to up it .5 inches and he look at me like a stone wall and when i got it back he said he adjusted them. so i hope he just didnt crank it to max. this was about 2 weeks ago. Yes i did get an alignment with the whole install. unfortunately i cant find where i put the spec sheet at. he did say that my caster was maxed out which i didnt know at the time what that meant, but now i do. maybe this is just the new norm. that why i wanted to check with some people to ensure that im not crazy or something is messed up. I just want to make sure before i head out to Colorado this summer for some off-roading.

 

Yeah, I hear ya. If you want to post a pic of the coilovers and those of us with the same setup can compare to see if there is anything obvious. Otherwise, it may just take some getting used to after changing from the stock setup.

 

One thing I will add, not sure if you have had the truck aligned yet since you are waiting for the coils to settle some- but my personal experience tells me that correct alignment does in fact smooth out the ride in a Tundra. I recently got an alignment, run stock suspension and 275/70-18 E load wildpeaks, and it most definitely improved the ride and handling, especially at speed.

Tire pressure also plays heavily on a tundra with E load tires. I can tell a difference in ride quality with just a couple pounds of pressure change. 35-38 with E load, larger tires will give a softer ride and still handle and wear well, 40+lbs firms it up more but wear is still proper, steering is a bit quicker but you do feel more road imperfections.

The add a leaf also factors in- will be firmer ride. Your ride will improve as the suspension gets broken in and gets some miles. An alignment and playing some with the air pressure will help you dial in the ride you want but regardless, it will be firmer than stock with lifted coil overs.

 

I’ve got this set still in the box. Waiting until I get shackles. I thought the fronts came set at 2.75”?

 

When I spoke to Eibach they said they are preset to level, and they used the TRD Pro as the benchmark for what level is. Mine raised the front exactly 2”.

One thing to check, this application is a 2/1 ratio, so .25” on the coilovers = .5” increase in height. If the shop that did your install is not on the ball they may have raised the collar .5”, effectively putting you at 3” overall, which is outside the upper limit. Might be worth checking it. I didn’t see it earlier, did you do before/after measurements?

Yeah I second what @OnespeedTRD says. They told me as well it’s set to level as preset.

 

I had the truck aligned after the lift and tires were installed. I don’t believe I got the E load tires. From what it says here they are

295/75R18 LT. I kinda knew adding the leafs would cause it to be firmer because I tow a camper a lot right now. I am curious to see how long these take to settle.

 

You know, I didn’t realize that. Maybe I need to check that soon. Because I did say to raise it so it’s a 2.5 in front and it was like talking to a brick wall about it to the guy at the front desk. Question, if I adjust that do you think it needs another alignment? I didn’t take any before or after because I forgot to. Was trying to see what it was stock before.

 

The tires that you linked are the E load tires. Wildpeaks don’t come in anything but E load in that size tire.

alright so it stopped raining enough to get some pictures. I measure from the bottom lip / top tread. I’m not sure if measures down to the red or further down. also this is while the tires are on the ground.

now it seems they went further than what i asked. unless, do i need to jack it up to take true measurements?

Man, those things are cranked way up!
I just measured mine, driver's side is 3 3/8" from the bottom of the collar to the top of the black sleeve, pass. side is 3 1/8".
I'm 1/4" higher on the driver's side to cancel out the Tundra lean.

Judging by your measurements those coilovers are way outside of the proper range, like 3.5-4" total. I'd get them lowered ASAP!
If you want 2.5" of lift I'd recommend 3 5/8" on the driver's side and 3 3/8" on the passenger side and see what that looks like.
You can do it yourself if you have the right spanner wrench, but you'd still need an alignments since you'll be dropping down significantly.

Here's how my truck sits with the above measurements on the front and Coachbuilder +1 shackles on the rear (+.625" lift).

 

Since I purchased my 21 cm sr5, I have done quite a bit of reading on this site. I have decided not to go crazy with a lift and go with the Eibach coilovers or the Toytec Eibach kit and level at 2" (like TRD PRO). My only concern is the cv axle boots tearing after the lift. I was hoping someone has some pics of their cv axles after lifting 2" or leveling. I figured since the TRD PRO's are leveled in the front from the factory, it should be safe.

 

2” you will be fine. You can still add a differential drop if you want

 

Oh no. Well maybe that is my issue then. To much preload on it I guess. Since I have never adjusted these myself do you suggest that I have to lift it up and remove the tires in order to adjust them? I tried calling the shop and f those guys as they Not willing to do anything for me. So looks like I’m paying for another alignment.

As @OnespeedTRD said, adjusted too high.

Mine are at 3" and 2.75" with a .25" spacer on top of each. I have Just about 2.5" of lift.

 

No need to remove tires, just jack it up and do a 1/4 turn at a time. Make sure to spray with some thing to lubricate. Will need another alignment though.
