I absolutely love power folding mirrors. Never gave a truck without them. The only downside is idiot service people who do not know they exist and “fold” them by hitting them manually which strips the gears.
Or am I the only one that has this problem?
Today had that problem again and gave them an earful. Had to replace them on my 2008 and was lucky to find a pair of takeoffs.

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
I still need to find a driver side for my 2008. I've done quite a bit of searching on how to repair these (and haven't found much). The only thing I have found is that these mirrors seem to be one of the Tundra's common problems, as in, don't buy 1 replacement, buy a case.

My understanding is they have a spring loaded “clutch” of sorts so that they can be folded manually without damage, including folding the wrong way if someone was to hit it (like a bicyclist). At least my tow mirrors react that way…I’ve manually folded them a few times before I did the auto-fold mod

I’d also think that if they screwed them up, they should be replacing them

^This. I move mine manually all the time during the winter. When I don't drive the vehicle but clear the snow from it, I manually "open" them to clear the snow from between the side glass and the mirror. If someone manually folds them, just press the fold button and the motors will rotate and you'll hear things "clunk" into place, press the button again and they'll unfold.

Well maybe it is me. My 2008 mirrors were absolutely no longer able to turn out without a little push because of gears were gone. One day I might tear one apart to determine how these work.
