    Yea, yea. I know a blower reduces engine life, blah, blah. I'm looking for real world experiences with superchargers long term. Now that Magnuson is offering financing, it got me thinking about it. I do plan on keeping my truck for a VERY long time. I would not add long tubes or a smaller pulley. Just a BD with a pro tune. I will be towing a car with the truck in the next year or so (looking for an S2000 track whore for the weekends), and daily driving the truck. Does anybody have any long term experience with TRD/ Magnuson superchargers? Or know where I can find some info?

    Ive had boosted vehicles for over a decade now. I got rid of the Subaru since I was sick of throwing new motors in the damned thing. Taught me not to cut corners though (and not drive it like I stole it all the time). Never messed with a supercharger, though. I figure if it's good enough for Toyota to have offered it with a warranty, it can't be horrible, right?

    I noticed that all those Tundras with super high mileage are not supercharged. From time to time we got reports of dead supercharged engines (over at TT). There was a thread over at TT asking if anyone had supercharged Tundras with more than certain mileage. I don't remember reading too many reports of such Tundras. In general, supercharged engines, everything else being comparable, will have shorter life. It's just a matter what risks we are willing to take. I was tempted, I considered it, then decided that it was a risk I was not willing to take.

    My buddy added a SC to his Tacoma at 180k on it. That was 2 years ago. He wheels and drives his Tacoma non stop. He still has it..

    I'm S/C mine once its paid off and I have all big boost low end parts which is TOO MUCH for me to list. But just to give you a peek into my plan; it'll consist of Pauter, CP, Full port/polish heads, new springs, retainers, valves, etc. But seriously it'll be 2020 before any of this gets started for me.

    I'd say depending on the condition of your engine granted the oil changes are more frequent, transmission serviced or inspected, gearing sorted out, etc; you should be okay to S/C

    My plan would be to throw the base Magnusson kit on with a BD and a tune and leave it be. Still just kicking around the idea, however. Boost is one helluva drug tho. Starting to think I should just pick up the S2000 and sink eff you money into that instead. However, I'm sure that this is a topic that quite a few would be interested in, so please, continue discussion.

    Yep, I started that thread. The question was, "Does anyone have a SC engine that has made it into the 200K club?"
    None have, based on the response. I think that speaks volumes regarding longevity. I'm fully on board with the "live fast, die young, and leave a good looking corpse " philosophy of life. I just think it's a good idea from time to time for a reality check. I'm a bit too old for part of that and have slowed down a bit also.
    (That is a James Dean quote, by the way)

    It's the same reason Buick is constantly at or near the top of the reliability ratings while the same exact car wearing a Chevy badge is near the bottom. The type of people who buy Buicks are usually older, don't drive like jackasses and keep on top of maintenance.

    This is so true what BlueFalconActual stated!

    The SC never made sense for me and what I wanted, but for most people that want them it does. The fuel costs isn't much more since at my elevation I was putting in mid grade octain rating anyway.

    Coming from boosted Subaru's, I would say this will be a different experience all together. Subaru STIs are pretty fast out of the showroom floor and most can't use the car to full potential anyway. I was the same in my Corvette and why it remained stock. Shit, that car handled so good and I could slam that car into a corner so hard, not one person ever riding in the passenger seat ever didn't get a little "sick" to their stomach and asked for me to either pull over or slow down.

    Point is, if you drive it like intended and not like a asshat with your hair on fire all the time, you will have many miles of service life.

    Someone can maybe back this up, but the SC on these trucks needs a service every 100k miles (buy a kit for like 79.00) and that is it. These are almost maintenance free.

    I'm at over 40k miles on my SC with no issues. I'll probably do the 100k maintenance on it early at around 75. I prefer to spend the little extra cash and do maintenance a little more frequently for the peace of mind (I do my oil and filter changes every 5k).

    Thanks everyone for chiming in! If (more than likely, when) I do go this route, it wont be until next year anyways. I figure at 10-15k miles per year, I should be able to at least get a few years out of it before grenading something. Hopefully we can get some more info compiled here to help out others that may be on the fence.

    I am at 46K miles no issues...I do the rdq mnx which isn't any different than stock until you hit 100K, when the S/C needs servicing. Yes, it requires 91/93 Octane but I don't care about the extra cost...I also have the 7yr/120 Platinum Warranty...if it blows up Toyota replaces it...that said, I don't beat on it, ever...

    the FST for Toyota just got back to me after tearing things down. The FST determined it was the nose cone. In his 4 years of being an FST, he has only seen this occur twice on the 5.7's- so not a common issue- at all. They are ordering the part and it should be here next week and they will install.

    Their tech- who does all of their SC installs ensured me if I wanted to keep driving it there would be zero harm done. I am not, however. This is my toy vehicle on the weekends.
