Drove the truck yesterday to pick up a few banana trees and a papaya. I didn't bring Tuco (he loves going there) because it was too hot. He showed me his anger by peeing on one of the banana trees and pooping on another plant right next to the banana. He really has a lot of passive aggressive activity.

Do you want to ride with your wife? If she is competitive? transitioning from peleton to strava/road riding is pretty easy. Then the transitioning to strava and MTB. My wife never would have gone for it at first either. When we got our bikes the local bike shops would have demo days at the local bike parks. You could go ride what ever bike you wanted. It's the most fun way to get some exercise in my opinion. Even Shuttle access downhill is a workout, if you have any parks like that. I think I remember reading something about a park over that direction. I am sure you have some local clubs that do weekly group rides. It is pretty easy to meet people to ride with when there are good trails around.

Is this permanent or is this a 2008-9 repeat. I just can't imagine trying to enter the home owner market in this climate.

I'm a child. $450,000 610 Ton Toshiba injection press, $250,000 robot part remover, and $400,000 mold, and I use it to write boobies. This is a certified @Darkness approved classic.

I'm working on it. Hence the corolla. Spend some money to save some money later. Paid cash. No lien.

Not in this lifetime. Best to aim for the foreclosed homes with fewer than 3 homicides on site.

Also if you don’t mind living under power lines or next to a freeway or train tracks you may find a deal.

There are a LOT of people who would have been foreclosed on during the last year but have been under protection. "When the levee breaks" there will be deals to be had if you have cash. They will sell at a rapid pace. This should start near the end of this year or early next year.

The hard part is when those houses go for sale it is usually at a court auction and you don't get to go do walk thru, but you can buy for very cheap and if you're handy (you are) you can make the house nice. There will be a lot of short sales as well, those tend to be nicer homes.

Oof. I'll need to cut back on a much more fierce scale once I get the corolla up to par on routine maintenance, and new headlight housings.

I don't mind a fixer upper at all. Totally comfortable with that.

My fear is the US dollar crashing.
What’s currently happening with it leans me to thinking it’s going to.

Ive piled up cash along side assets that have tangible value (silver, gold, etc)

You will have time. The foreclosure process, or the short sale/deed in lieu processes, take months to complete. There will be a pipeline of loans pushing through this and mortgage companies aren't currently staffed to handle the load so a backlog will happen. It will start near 2022 but will continue for maybe 3 years before it stabilizes.

This is my guess based on experience in mortgage. The default population of the 2007 collapse was still being worked through 5 years later as a reference.

Gold has done incredibly well over the last 20 years at least. My savings in the bank, not so much. It’s probably worth 30-40% less than what it used to with all the overprinting of money.

fiat currency sucks in my opinion. at least gold silver platinum... the human race for millennia have agreed has value. having money backed by such things seems like the ideal way to do it.

fiat basically creates money every time a loan is taken out.... just screams "overinflation bound"

I thought buying back in that timeframe (2007-2009) was going to be great but it turned out a lot of people held onto their homes and the ones up for foreclosure were generally in the least desirable areas (near power lines, train tracks and freeways). Even looked at one home and the guy was still living there with no definitive time on moving out. I’m not sure what’s that was about but I quickly moved on.

I certainly hope so. I was planning on starting to look around August of this year anyways. Buying the corolla pushed that back at least a month. Sept-Nov was new goal, but I think I can manage to wait for a while longer.

I didn't rush into the corolla. Everything that I could see I was aware of going forward, but cars have Vin, and houses have

"Well I think I did that in 1993. Might have been 2003? Hell, I dont know."
