First time truck owner and picked up the 2013 SR5 TRD Dbl Cab 4x4 yesterday with only 45000 miles!

Needing to add cargo rails asap.

Any options, recommendations, things to watch out for, etc are appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Brian in S. IN

A little of this and a little of that.
Brian, go with the Unistrut if you don't want the OEM bedrails.
BTW, welcome to the forum from Las Vegas!!

Those look great and I'm not opposed to DIY, however, I'm not sure how to install them given I have a bedliner without any access to the truck bed itself. Looks like the Toyota Tundra OEM rails have an optional hardware kit when a bed liner is already installed (BEDLINER RETAINER BRACKET KIT IS PT271-34070-HW).

Also, not sure what size is considered standard for all accessories that are out there.

    Welcome bud.

I'm in the process of building/installing the DIY rails in my '14 double cab. I could be wrong but I do believe the DC bed is the same size despite the 2nd gen-3rd gen difference. My rails measured at 5'6" on the sides (leaving several inches on either end to slide things onto the rail) and 4'6" on the cab end.

    What bedliner do you have?

Someone just installed some unistrut with their bedliner. I think it was @CM-LENNY. Maybe he'll chime in.

Here's my bed liner ... looks like the Toyota branded oem one possibly?

This is where the holes are where circled. The arrow is a non threaded hole but shows about the height of the holes. I bet if you got a thumb tack and pushed around those areas, you would be able to find the threads.

Hall I know this bed! That's my truck, the circled locations are thed correct areas. I used a sharp picknife to locate the holes through the bedliner.

Lol. I thought it was my truck when I posted the pic. And then I noticed the ladders are different than mine. And then I noticed the truck was blue. :anonymous:

    Awesome! Thanks Joonbug and Alloutdrs1!

Any thoughts on threaded holes on the front against the back of the cab? I'd like to put one of up there until I get a toolbox.

Hey Brian, I did the uni strut DIY set-up and it worked well. I think I posted it in the " what have you done to your 3rd Gen" area. Do you need the measurements on where to drill through the bed liner ?

Yes, that would be great CM. Also, which UniStrut did you purchase? I see it under different names by different sellers (HD, Lowes, Ace, Online, etc.). And, which size did you get (not length, but dimensions)?

    Many thanks CM!

Brian, what are you going to mount onto the unistrut?

Initially Bike fork mounts as we are cyclists. And, will be mounting a tandem to it. So, do need the heavier options where available. Otherwise, just tie down loops and similar.

I used the shallow strut ( 13/16 I think ). It will flush out with the bed rails. Give me a minute and I will grab the measurements.

Look at my post 6534 under "What have you done to your 3rd Gen". If you butt your tape measure to the front of the bed (metal portion, not the bed liner), 5-1/4, 18-1/4, 31-1/8, 44, 56-7/8. Come down 3/4" from bottom of bed rail (metal edge). I used a paint pen to mark on the bed liner. Also used a 3/4" block of wood to use as a marking guide. After marking the bed liner, pull it away to do the hole saw and trim the rear wings on the liner which will allow it to sit tighter. I failed to pull the liner away on the first side, and my pilot bit in the hole saw found the 6mm tapped hole in the bed and stripped it. I drilled and re-tapped that one hole to the next size. Good luck with all. Yell with any questions.

Didn't even look at that. OOPS.......I wonder if the first holes are all the same and just continue out the back ?

My DC bed is bare metal with all those holes exposed. I'll take measurements tomorrow.

I only measured the pre-existing threaded holes. There were a couple extra random ones that may not be factory lol These should get you in the ballpark (assuming I don't need my measuring tape calibrated ;)

    Cab: 5 holes total, mirrored around center at 30 1/4". from right or left: 8 3/4", 20", 30 1/4"

    Sides: 6 total per side. I'm assuming they're matching on both sides of the bed. Starting from the cab: 5 1/2", 17 1/2", 30 1/4", 43 1/8", 56", 68 7/8"

From other threads I've seen, it looks like a couple guys have established that the holes fit an M6 x 1.0 bolt

edit: it was really bothering me that they weren't evenly spaced along the sides of the bed so I triple checked. Both sides are similar, but there seems to be about 1/4-1/2" of acceptable "play" on where they drilled each hole. My OCD is going nuts right now. Looks like they generally tried for 12.75" between most holes.
