Who has subwoofers?

Yep those look like the ones. As far as reusing the existing mounts, you might as well. After the ones I bought didn't actually fit despite saying they would, I just drilled new holes for them but it would have been cleaner had I retrofitted the existing mounts versus doing that.

I have a shallow Rockford Fosgate 12 in a truck wedge box. I added a woofer grill to protect the woofer and lay it facing down in the back between the passenger front and rear seats. Gets plenty loud.

The box was a little bigger so its now upright wedged between the front and rear passenger seats. Still plenty of cow bell for me though. More is not needed.

That's an interesting first post there, Bran. What separates CDT from other low-dollar absolute crap like BOSS, Pyramid, SSL, etc.?

 

There are some manufacturers out there that do have a better quality to price ratio than most of the popular brands. Dayton is one that always comes up in home audio use, theyre relatively cheap for components and will typically out perform the generic car app stuff like Kicker, JL, etc at least on the entry level end. Not sure about CDT though.

 

I had my first pair 6 years ago. The HD series. I could hear the door steps of someone moving on the stage. I only paid $150. Put 100watts to them and wow. Bout to order my second set.

I’ve tried some others, I feel like I’m getting a thousand dollar speaker for hundreds.

Well I've been going through it with the design of my box for my truck just like everybody else here I had an idea for a box that would have been awesome but then they said it wouldn't be legal because I wanted to make my backseat the box itself and make it down facing slim sub box and you know in bed the seatbelts and cushion and everything like a real seat but after saying it wouldn't be illegal that idea went out the window so I actually have a custom built 8-in single sub box that I might end up putting for sale with a punch sub at 2 ohms because I did this.

 

It’s not much of a clean install but here’s my 10” sub with a custom box and swapped out the center console for the sub. The center console was really bulky with not much use so I quite like the sub in the middle instead. I have it bolted down to the truck and I also have a top over it so I can use it as an armrest and to put whatever else on top of the sub as if it’s my center console.

 

I have the JL Stealth Box w/2×10TW3 IIRC and the JL VX1000w/1i amp. My only complaint is that I don't have room for more.

Door and Dash speakers are JLs powered by JL VX800/8i.

Using a Fix 82 atm, but I'll be putting in a JVC head unit in it mid June.

I feel you haha, I really would want a 12” but there’s absolutely no space for it unless I remove a seat or something.

 

That setup is scary. When I was younger I drove around with boxes in my cab but soon realized they should be bolted down securely.

I would build a box into the floor if I had a double cab and run 8s. Its easy to do and you don't lose any valuable space. Plus if you're in an accident its secured and won't kill anybody.

 

There's so much leg room in the backseat area, if I was a fabricator I'd figure out a mount to move the seat forward a few inches for a bigger box.

 

In my 2003 Access cab I have a 10 inch sub in a wedge box behind the passenger seat and a 3-channel amp under the seat. I don't have any kids and don't haul anything in the back so I don't mind giving up a little bit of room for better sound.

 

Before my current setup, my sub was exactly like yours with the wedge box. But I had mines horizontal and wedged between the driver seat and back seat. Then I had my driver seat as far back as it could go so the box wouldn’t budge.

 

I wish I had room for something like that

Here’s what I’ve got. Shallow mount 8” Pioneer in a crappy little box. Sounds pretty good. The rubber bumpers are key to holding the plastic covering up so the sub doesn’t contact it. I want to put a 6.5” JL in it too. We’ll see.

 

That looks good. I wanted to do exactly that for my truck but with 2 subs instead. The rubber bumps is a smart idea. I have my own 3d printer so I just print spacers whenever I need it for things like this.
