The infrastructure is far from being useful to the masses currently. I feel the country is being led down a strange road for the purpose of greed.
Apparently the auto manufacturers think we don't do our homework first before throwing down large sums of money for vehicles.

Sure, if you actually have the need to drive across the country, don't buy an EV yet. It was just a hypothetical question about how many people can't make an EV work for them and how many are just trying to resist new technology.

And for the record, I'm not currently a fan of EVs. We'll see if the next 20 years changes my mind.

Another reason that Hybrid Tech is really the intermediate answer for many of us if they would just make them in a Vehicle I could live with!?!

Right! I’ve always felt that EV’s have had their place in the auto world, but not as a replacement for ICE. If the reason is carbon footprint and environmental damage, folks are in for a treat. EV’s aren’t all flowers and love in both production and utilization compared to fuel alternatives.

I don't necessarily see it as greed. You have to remember that corporations exist solely to drive value for their shareholders. If a company sees demand from its customers for a product that doesn't currently exist but that they could develop, it would be remiss of them not to do so and to miss out on that market. If the people are asking for something that's bad for them, what company is going to say "no, we're not willing to sell that to you?" If that were the case, no tobacco company would exist...

Of course there will be a growing network of recharging or battery swap facilities but I believe it will be significantly smaller than the current gasoline network. Over the past 21 years I've purchased about 15,000 gallons of gas for my Tundra. When I go EV that drops to zero and I'll charge at home. A lot of folks will be charging at home. Gasoline pumps will wither on the vine.

Here in Tennessee electricity rates are among the lowest in the nation at around 10 cents kWh. If what I've read is close to correct, that should be the equivalent of around a $1 gallon of gas.

We do a fair amount of recreational travel that an EV isn't well suited at this time. The wife will be replacing her 2006 Sienna with a 2021 Sienna hybrid at a combined mileage of 36mpg. Her 2006 gets about 22mpg.

Edit: Ford just told investors that they plan on boosting their spending on EVs to $30 billion (up from $22 billion) through 2025. Also said they have already taken 70,000 reservations for the Lightening. Stock popped 8% this morning.

Tesla can’t turn a profit, gov subsidies are propping up the industry... but gas pumps will soon die on the vine.

In addition to your statement, public companies are compelled to do what’s best for the shareholders.

    See Dodge Vs. Ford:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_v._Ford_Motor_Co.

Secondly, all your retirement saving plans, your life insurance plans, your pensions etc., are all tied to those corporate profits. They are even more tied to them today as those same fund managers are reaching-for-yield to try and make their metrics which can’t be achieved in safe investments anymore. Thus corporate profits are even more important today than they were prior to the low-for-long interest rate environment.

With what really appears to be runaway inflation, your savings is going to take a beating unless you’re in an asset that will increase with, or at least above, inflation.

    Food for thought.

If you follow your logic then every FORD would have an FDA sticker on it saying could cause birth defects and lung cancer.
Just look at what it takes to disperse millions of power stations throughout the world and get electricity to them effectively. Now look at the power generating stations for these consumer stations and figure out what kind of energy will be needed to power these distribution sub stations.
It's a mess and fossil fuels will be utilized even more for energy production but, without the tight controls that exist with automobiles today.
Friggen bait and switch of society by the shadow people. Who wants to be a sheep.

Yep........my off grid property is near the town of Ft Garland in San Luis Valley. Ranching, farms, and logging. I was in Del's Diner for breakfast Sunday morning. Prolly 6 or 7 pickups parked out front. Several local ranchers and loggers were having breakfast and I couldn't help but overhear them talking. Curiously enough they were basically laughing and giggling about the prospect of converting their trucks, farm tractors, log trucks, heavy equipment, and such to battery powered......heh....heh

Yep.......All of our wind energy clients are highly subsidized. They are BIG players in wind energy. The subsidies were temporarily cut off. Hundreds, if not thousands of layoffs until subsidies kicked in again. Subsidies are cash payments, not to be confused with oil exploration company tax breaks. There is a difference.

I did not care for the standard trailblazer, but I did have a thing for the Trailblazer SS.
I had an 06 TBSS. They come lowered 1 inch from the factory and air ride in the back. I lowered mine a little in the rear with the bag adjusters. They came with the 395 hp 6L LS2
I just had exhaust, tune, intake and a brake duct trans cooler with thermostatic e-fan. Had a 3000 install yank torque converter ready to install when I bought the tundra. Ran a 13.8 in the 1/4 before the converter. It moved pretty good!
